Default Couple warranty issue questions.

I heard that if you miss a scheduled maintenance your warranty can be voided. Does anyone know anything about this? Do you have to get the warranty work done by a dealer, how would they know if you didnt?

Next, I bought my 04 STI from a dealer with a HKS carbon-ti catback, AEM cold air intake, a blowoff valve and some other stuff. Could they give me any warranty problems even though I got it from them? I hear of a lot of warranty problems...

Well if they sold it to you in that condition they can't blame you for doing that to the car. Tough call though if they will stab you in the back because of it.

Missing a scheduled maintenance will not void your warranty. However if an issue comes up that could have been prevented or discovered during a service could void the warranty on that repair. But as long as the recommended service work is performed and proof can be provided, it can be done at any shop.

How long have you had your car? Did you buy it as-is? If you didn't buy it as-is, then you may be able to get the dealer to replace the mods with stock parts, but don't hold your breath. You might also be able to convince them to repair any mod-related problems out of their own pocket, but SOA would not be obligated to help you...it would be the dealer's sole responsibility. Regardless, I would suggest removing the CAI and the blowoff valve as they do very little good and could potentially destroy your engine. Paying some money now to go back to stock would be better than ponying up thousands of dollards to replace the engine later.

You should've asked them before you purchased the car.. Now they can say anything they want about anything.
