Default Utec Delta with Speed density 437whp on pump 91

2004 WRX
GT35R/1.06 housing
Tial 44 gate
PHX turbo FMIC and piping
PE800's
Perrin Fuel rails
Buschur Fuel pump
Turboxs Delta Utec
Axis racing Short block
DPR heads with porting, valves and Stg4 cams
Crawford Oil catch

This car smoked like mad. We named it Ole Smokie. It came to me after 3! other tuners blew it up. It was rebuilt but never tuned.

Mike from Gruppe S called me and asked if I wanted to tune it since it was a Utec car. I was honored and said yes. He broke the motor in with some street miles. Thanks Mike!

We installed the Fuel pump, cleaned up some hoses, Unhooked the Intake portion of the breather and installed the new Turbo XS Delta.

The car stopped smoking.. It burns clean, Idles solid, Never stalls. It runs almost like stock now. I love the new TurboXs Delta with the new Speed density software.

Oh and To the guys in the other thread talking about Smoke from the DPR cams.. Its the tuning. I tried to interject into that convo but nobody seemed to care. Once the Injector dead time was set right and the AFR was tuned flat there was NO SMOKE.

The car made 437whp on the Mustang 500 AWD dyno. Add 40whp to get to Dyno jet numbers. This is about the highest Pump 91 tune I can remember doing. It ran a total of 17 degrees of timing peak. AFRs where 12 to 12.5 to 1. It liked to be lean and mean. EGT was peaking at 800C. Boost was 22-23 psi which is pretty damn impressive. I tossed in 3 gallons of 100 octane and the car made 471. The PE 800's where 99% IDC so I had to stop. The Pump 91 tune runs the 800's to 90%. This shows how much power this thing is making.. On the road its a blast!!

I would love to install 1000CC injectors, C16 with 35 psi and maybe a 100 shot!

Scanning charts now.. Then off to Vegas to tune some cars.

Charts:

Pump AZ 91 octane. 22-23 psi.

pump 91 mixed with VP 100 unleaded. Ran out of injector.. Had to stop here:

Thanks for clearing that BS TALK up in the other thread up. Too many people jump on the bandwagon......

Anyways, very nice power! How is the 1.06? What does the spool look like?

Nice job Clark!

Like I told you today on the phone, I was surprised and relieved by how well that car did. We really had our doubts about it and thought the owner was crazy for going this route, especially given his experience and luck from previous shops.

He's in for a big shock, keep in mind he hasn't had his car for nearly 2 years. We recieved it a year ago in Aug. where it came from another shop after being there for 9 months. We got it with no motor & no parts, then we spent the next few months trying to get his new & used parts sent to us from various vendors. After all was said & done we had it for 7 months, then it left here 6 months ago and sat at Gruppe-S where Mike broke it in and was supposed to tune it, but sounds like it went back to UTEC. Some of this time is also due to the owner traveling out of the country for months at a time and not hearing from him.

A couple more parts to add to the list are: Helix 4-1 Header, TGV Deletes, Borla Hush cat-back and EWG plumbed back in, funny enough he wanted it to be quiet, RPS clutch, JDM 6 speed tranny w/R160, we'll see how that works out, Rotora BBK F&R and stock WRX suspension! The only good that suspension is good for now is keeping that huge FMIC from hitting curbs.

Sorry for the long post, just thought I would add a little background to this long awaited project. Hopefully he can finally enjoy his car

Very nice. Makes me not feel sorry for people that only have access to 91 octane.

LICmotorsports - Adam is this that black wrx with the kingpin kit that was on your guys lift when I swung by a long time ago? I remember talking to Noah about the car and how you guys kept having to get a bunch of parts for it. If it's the same car it's good to see it all finished up now

Nice numbers Clark!

Hey Dan, yea that's the one.

Finally it's becoming worthy of something, I was told his last motor only made 260whp and only lasted 2k miles, so he's in for a big surprise.

Yeah. Its a screamer! I wish it had 1000cc injectors! I have no doubt this car would have cracked 550whp on C16. I drove it around on the road on the 100 octane map. It was real spicey. The 1.06 housing came on hard. I pitty that R160 rear end. I cant imagine how it would do with the gate plumbed out to atmosphere.

On monday the trucking company comes to pick up the car to truck it back out of the country. He will be happy to have this car back. He has a big race when he gets back from what they told me. It appears near stock which is cool. I wish I could afford to keep my car and put this exact same motor in it My new moto.. Dont trust your best friend.

It's an Axis Stage 2 short block.

I have some pics of the build, but don't have them on our site, until then I can't post any I guess...

Just saw in the pics that there is also Helix 4-1 Headers, I'll add that to the other list.

Nice numbers Clark... Talk about coming on strong...

Looks like I need to check out the new Turbo XS Delta...

The 850cc injectors we talked about might max out on my setup...

I am curious about the fuel pump as well...

One question... What is with the power starting to level off right about 6800... Is that related to the dyno, or your AVCS map???

No AVCS...they're WRX heads. From my pics, they're stock intake valves and non-stock exhaust valves. Unfortunately, I'm missing a ton of pics of this car. I usually take many pics of every project we do, hopefully they're on another card or something.

Mike: see you on Monday..

This car is being detailed outside right now. We installed a Greddy Profec Spec 2 Boost controller to replace the manual. Its being loaded onto a Semi truck today to be shipped to its owner. Glad to see this car finally come together!
