Default Ecuktek - is this a good price

would an ecu trade and $250 be a good deal for a ecutek ecu road-tuned by Bill from I-Speed for a stage 2 (uppipe/downpipe, exhaust, intake) setup?
what do you think?

I wouldn't run someone else's specific tune on your car. But its a good deal for the Ecutek license, since they're $600 new.

Doesn't matter even if you have identical mods. Each car reacts differently to a tune. That is why there are good gains to be had from a custom tune. So, just because car "A" has good numbers and results with a custom tune, doesn't mean you can place that tune on car "B" which has identical mods and it will be just as powerful and detonation-free. In fact, it's possible that car "B" could have a whole lot of problems with that tune depending on how aggressive it was.

Yeah, not a good idea at all. It would be good if you were planning to have it tuned at your local ECUTek dealer, but not so good if your not planning on having it tuned for your car.

But hey its your car do what you want to.

If your not planning to have it tuned then stick with your stock ECU. But if you want the full potential from your car get ECUTek tuned at your local ECUTek dealer. There is nothing wrong with ECUTek, but it is stupid to try and run someone elses tuned map and it is a waste to run a basemap when you can get a ton more power from having a custom tune to your car.

I typically see a 40-60+ft/lb torque gain from me tuning with ECUTek.

Here are some before and after results from me tuning with ECUTek:

'04 STi w/ TBE and ARC Air Box:

'06 STi w/ TXS TBE and K&N Short Ram Intake:

The before on both graphs were on the stock ECU with no reflash. Both cars were tuned on 18psi tapering at redline on 93 octane pump gas. Both flatline at 11.5:1 A/F. The '06 graph is actually the first pull after loading in one of my tuned base maps. I will grab the final graph off the dyno tommorow and post it up as it doesnt fall off up top. I finished up with that one at 315ft/lbs torque and 28x whp.
