If i remember correctly, he got it on ebay. He also said he had to cut a little off the ends to make it fit. If you search back a few pages he explained it all.

it's for an sti, so i just had to cut about 3 inches off each edge. rest of the fitment was pretty good.

here's a closer pic of the bumper and fitment. there are two gaps on either side where the hump is, i just cut a couple pieces of garage door seal and glued them in there. not very noticeable unless you know about it. and like i said, you have to cut a 2-3 inches off the ends or it continues into the wheel well and will hit your tire.

Go to any auto part store and ask for these part numbers:
x2 Spectre 3" 45 degree elbow intake tube includes collar clamp
Part Number: 8738

x2 Spectre 3" intake coupler
Part Number: 8772

Tools: flat head screwdriver and an allen wrench.

I find it quieter when cruising but notably louder when your on it. I did it last night, the fit was tight but here is a pic:

I have to clean that engine bay tomorrow!

How would one go about cleaning an engine bay? I've always wanted too but never knew the correct way to do it.

It's easiest way is to not let it get it dirty haha! First, I cover up the alternator and air box. Then, I spray the whole thing with simple green, give a few good wipes with a rag/toothbrush in tight spots, and hose it off but, mind where you're spraying the hose, avoiding things such as the intake and alternator. Most cleaners are corrosive so I try to avoid letting it sit on the aluminum for more than ~3 minutes. After drying everything I use a plastic protectant like armor-all on the plastic covers and rubber hoses, avoiding the exposed belts.

If you check out the "Car Care & Detailing" forum their is a lot of info about products and techniques that other people are using.

Thanks very much for that Dillon! Huge help, I'm going to end up doing that relitively soon I like the way that looks. 2point5 09i though is how I want my bay to look with the red, if not more!

Theres a few ways I've been taught to do it, One being a longer way I found out how to do when rebuilding my old cars engine and replacing the heads (so I did part by part, injectors, intake manifold etc that were all DISENGAGED from the car, and that was to use either brake cleaner IIRC
Need to make sure the pieces are dry and washed out before putting back together.

The other way was at least for me, to grab a rag (depending on what you want to clean, engine bay or specific parts) and either get it a little wet with water and a small protion of soap (if needed) and wipe it down. You may have to take some parts off/out in order to get to some of the tighter areas.

Im sure there are other ways, thats just how I was taught by a retired mechanic

Thanks! I plan on painting the alternator cover red, adding a strut bar, painting all of the yellow caps red, and a replacing the radiator cap. I've only had the car for about 2 months so their isn't a lot done to her.

Mods so far: double din JVC head unit, 500 watt sub, red Rally Armor mud flaps, intake silencer delete, plastidip grill/rear chrome/lower bumper "diffuser", DIY lip, and WRX cat-back exhaust (installing this weekend)

EDIT: I'd love to polish or chrome the intake manifold but I don't have the skills or knowledge to do it! Also, this is my only vehicle so I can't be without it for too long.

So far so good! When in top gear and giving it more gas the car no longer grunts /vibrates loudly at me! Also, it's louder when your stepping on it which is nice. I don't think their was any performance gains but the car does feel slightly smoother under heavy acceleration. I haven't even driven 10 miles with it but, I'll update everyone about it some time if anything changes!

I'll have my parts in tomorrow and on thursday if i get the time shouldn't take to long, also had to snake that perrin shroud and hose as well:P (Don't hate me hahaha)
The car looks totally difference now with the tint and everything so ill hopefully post some more when i get that done.

Also Dillon: Did you happen to put in a new High flow drop in?? if you never do you think that might be why you havnt noticed any slight gains at all ?

I have the OEM filter. At AutoZone they had a hi-flow for like $50 :/ so I didn't bother. But, that may help give me a little more power. I'm thinking the Apexi one!

Apexi definitely looks like the way to go.

http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/

Odd, because out of the options (http://www.rallysportdirect.com/Replacement-Air-Filter), the Apexi filter is the cheapest. (Not that I'm complaining)

I already had a brand new K&N High flow so i didn't want to spend any extra cash then i needed to, in my opinion i should be fine its a decent brand.

Are RS/i the same filter size as WRX/STi?

The K&N is a nice quality option but I can save $15 with the Apexi which is also great quality. I can't compare the 2 but I'd bet their both very similar.

The 2008+ 2.5i, WRX, and STi use the same filter.

Nicely done on the red ideas. I've ALWAYS been into red, and now that I have a DGM car, the red will flow, IMO, better with it.
And nicely done with the MODs within the first couple months, Looks like you are going to MOD it instead of trading it in after all?!?!

Within 2 months I only had my sound system, exhaust, and tint (sound system and tint within 7 days)..Mainly because with my lady (and for the sake of spending time with her) it took me a while to find information on what to do and not to do...

ANYWAYS, the crome intake manifold would be legit! Not sure what paint (if any) would stay on it and not melt off..I think my brother has a crome intake manifold on his 66 stang but I believe he had to buy a new one with the crome finish.

KEEP THE IDEAS COMING THOUGH!!

I'm going to do a little bit of both! I'll mod it and make double payments every once in a while so it's payed off in 2-3 years. Then I will trade it for a WRX or get one and daily drive the 2.5i.

You can powder coat it chrome or polish it which would involve sanding it down and using an aluminum polish compound. I could have it powder coated for $50 if only I was confident enough to remove the damn thing! Lol

I'm so glad I could inspire some people with the intake and shroud and hoses!!!! Next addition will be Perrin's new alternator cover. And yes it will be red!!! Hahaha well just wanna say. I've had the apexi filter for about 3 months and I love it!!! Also love the price and the fact that it is a dry filter!!!
