let's bring it back down a notch and back to the sexy 2.5is...

here's me in my bitchin NP blue sedan out on our first ever AutoX

I'm trying REALLY hard to get my mudflaps to touch the ground Also, those ARE the stock RE92s, we had fun, they squealed like a bunch of gossiping highschool girls.

I thought those rims came standard on the 2.5i SE's in Canada. over here they are on our Outback Sports. I love that rim style but cleaning them must me heck, lol.

how did it handle man? I am Auto so if I do it the handling will be a bit different [different style diff; Active AWD] but a general idea. I heard that these new RE92A's grip a bit better than the older regular RE92's. C' mon dude, give us a synopsis

I have no basis to compare RE92As to RE92s. I was not last in my class (D) not sure how that fits into your SCCA classings, but D class was dominated by guys from both D and E class that had significant mods and superior driving experience.

This was my first autoX experience, so my goal was not to be competitive, just because it was not going to be possible at my skill level. My goals were to put in clean runs and reduce the times over the course of the day. The fun goal of not to finish last was to put a bit of competitive edge into me.

It was a weekend double header because in ottawa, the Sens made it to the stanley cup final so we didn't get the lot at scotiabank place until late june.

First 2 runs on the saturday I was lost in a sea of cones. 1st one I just didn't know where to look, even after walking the course 3 times. the 2nd run was substantially better, but I missed a few gates as my adjustment to look farther ahead missed a few gates off to the sides and I turned a chicane and an S into a straight.

The 3rd run on saturday was a clean run around 20-25 seconds off the pace of the top runners in A and B and some of C. 86.xxx I think, I'll have to track my times over the day better next event, as they only post the top 2 times.

over the next 4 runs, (we got 7 in) I managed to shave it down to 81.xxx and at the end of the day I felt I had more in me and that 79s were possible if I had 2 more runs. I didn't finish last in class by 2 seconds.

around 60 cars for saturday, mostly vets that were itching all summer to get out there. FTD went to a completely gutted and striped down MR2 with no front end or back end, or any body panels save for a couple of stripped doors.

Sunday was a cluster **** of newbies and vets. We would run the same course, but in reverse with a few tweaks. I made sure I walked the course with NOBODY around me so I could get clear line of sight to where I needed to be looking. I walked it about 4 times. The newbs were all chatting up between themselves, not following the line or looking to where they needed to go. I sensed trouble ahead.

My first run was about 85.xxx and clean. The course felt faster than the day before. Lots of cars going off.

2nd run I thought I nailed it and was expecting an 83.xxx I felt a lot faster, but they called off course and DNFed my run, I was positive I didn't go off anywhere. But later after lunch, I would go to that spot and determine I may have turned a straight gate into a chicane.

After my run back out to marshal... lots MORE cars going off, and quite dangerously as people were plowing through the center walkway areas where marshals were travelling to the marshal stations. So they stopped the runs to force another course walk and to put a few more cones down.

3rd run was an 85.xxx 2/10s slower than my previous run . Back out to marshal, MORE cars were finding their way off course.

4th run was an 82.xxx and clean, but I was starting to feel the areas where more speed was available, or later braking.

5th run I knocked off an 80.502 and really felt confident that 78s were very possible, I just needed to solve a scrubbing issue in a couple corners, more braking before going in, and more gas on the way out.

6th run was an 80.033 and I messed up a corner, scrubbing way too much speed and going way wide.

Again I didn't finish last in my class by 6/10s

I also finished above some cars in higher classes.

FTD on sunday went to a crazy STI pilot running stock on v710s 64.584

Our local subaru club had a strong presence over the 2 days with 12-15 cars out of 60 each day. We were the most well represented brand present.

Overall, it was a hugely fun experience, and I'll be finishing the rest of the season on my RE92s and going to hankook rs2 z212s next season. The car handled decently I guess, I've got a 20 mm rear swaybar installed. I still have more to feel out about the car's capability right now, most of my slowness has to do with driver inputs and experience. We'll see where it goes.

And yes, the stock rims on my car are a HUGE pain in the ass to clean... that's why they'll be my lapping/autox wheels.

They fit like a glove. The only thing I had to do was buy the plastic buttons that hold them on from the underneath. Then from the side I just used some 3M (didn't feel like drilling into the rocker panels). Overall really easy install. It took about an hour once I knew what I was looking at. Thanks for the comments guys!
