Brake pad size problem
I had this problem for months and tried to find a solution here in vain. I attempted to change my front brake pads on 99 sub legacy but at every store I got wrong size pads. Tried to put them on but the pads would wear out funny and braking was a problem. Turned out my car with 15" wheels(manual says so too) uses 14" wheels size pads. Do not know why.
Anybody went through this?

Good to know. I don't keep the stock size brakes on my cars for very long, and it's pretty easy to figure out which WRX or Legacy GT brake pads I need.

Had a similar issue with my 99RS rear pads. The part number the parts store had in their computer was for 98s and I needed to tell them I had a 2000 RS in order to get the right ones.

I am trying to find out if the callipers were changed to the 14" tire ones(I bought it used 4 years ago) or it is what the original parts called for. The 15" tire size pads are much bigger in all dimensions and I wonder if I am getting sufficient braking. The rear ones are alright.

I couldn't get the right pads for my 05 RS for the life of me!! The only place that ever had the right pads were the stealership....Every parts store in my town (Chicago!!!) Had them as WRX or an Outback.....And neither of them were the right one's...
And to the people wondering how many times I replaced my brakes pads on my 05, the awnser is 3 times......... Three sets of tires too..... |
