Default ECU losing it's tune??? Trend here.

I am tuning using Enginuity+Tactrix Cable.

This is the second time this has happened to me now.
After a long period of time driving on a "tune" that I develop it seems to eventually get bad..i.e. knock, run leaner.

I have no idea why this phenomena is happening to me, anyone else?

Just a bit ago I took the car out for some logging, A/F was 11.4:1 at redline...11.7:1 midrange. Previously when I tuned the car I had it set to 11.2:1 midrange and about 10.9:1 at redline. The timing was being pulled a lot at redline as well, -KC values...

I reset the ECU, got the IAM back up at 16 and did a couple runs. Timing is right back up where it should with KC values maxxed out and the A/F is right back where it's supposed to be.

What the heck is going on here?

I am wondering if the weather changes are affecting the tune? By the way, I also have about a 25% splash mix of E85 in this tank..but beforehand when it happened it was straight 93oct.

Another possible reason is that I don't have my engine load values scaled like they should. I am seeing 5.6, where as my maps only goto 4.3 or so(stock).
Maybe that's causing inconsistency?

I asked Richard Bulmer about this problem. Since I see a lot of guys asking this same question on NASIOC. He said its most likely because a car was mapped too aggressively and the ECU will start to try to compensate.
He maps WRX's to IAM 15 because it seems to respond more quickly to det etc. He went into great detail and I am not going to try and pretend I understood much of it!
All I can say it he mapped my WRX wonderfully. The car was mapped on 94 octane and I accidentally filled up with 90 octane. My MAF voltage dropped .3 and my AVCS advance dropped 3 degrees. My knock level never went above 0, ever. Oh and the car remained at IAM 15. Now that I realized that they were in the process of changing all the pumps at the gas station, I filled up with the correct fuel and all is back to normal.

I cannot simply map at an IAM of 15 since the IAM advances on it's own.
I have my base values pretty low though and I am allowed to advance up to ~4.2 degrees in Knock Correction map. I run a total of 25deg right at redline if IAM is at 16, only 20deg on base map.
When I saw the knock in the log, I was only running 19deg at redline, ECU pulled -3 KC out from 5k - 7k. Who the hell knocks at 5k running only 11deg of timing and a mid 11 A/F????

But like I said, after an ECU reset, it's all good, KC values are maxxed out, IAM advances to 16, A/F is back where it should be.

I have a simular issue as well, but I honostly believe its all related to the MAF sensor. As it learns the newer fuel trims they are leaner (or richer)then whatever the default is. The only way I've found to combat the problem is to make minor tweaks to the rom w/o reseting to see the results of the tune quicker enough to make the right adjustments.

I have rescaled up to an engine load of 6 now and everything seems fine. Will report back if it gets worse again like last time.
