Thumbs up HKS Type 1 turbo timer

Hey all,

did an install of a HKS Type 1 turbo timer. Very happy with the item, although it would be nice to get full functionality out of it (RPM, speed, 0-60, etc) - can anyone give me the pinout for those ECU wires plz? I think I found the ideal spot for the timer - Dremel-ing and filing took about an hour (should have taken more time ), and the fit was perfect. With a harness, it was an easy install... tell me what ya think.

just a suggestion, it may not be to your liking. Try splitting some black silicone tubing, maybe 1/4" or so in diameter and running it around your TT to hide the gaps and give it a more finished look. Other than that, it looks great, good job.

How did you fit that timer in there? I tried but I checkout the depth and it didn't seem like there was enough space to mount it there. I was just wondering if you cut anything inthe dash board to be able to give it clearance.

Aside from cutting out the hole and shaving some plastic from the bottom of the hole, it really was a prefect fit. I didn't have to cut anything else. I used a gob of hot glue between the top of the timer and the upper plastic shim that it rests on, and that was it. The wire harness dropped easily through on the left side, and since I didn't know where the parking brake wire went, I simply ran the harness wire all the way to the e-brake handle switch. Presto ...the cool part is that the only truly "damaged" part of the install was the cup holder insert. I didn't even have splice into any wiring.

hey, i put my TT on the same spot as you. I got the blitz Dual TT but i run my wire to the left underneath the steering wheels. Hide it very well, no drilling and don't go through the cup holder too. I bought the wire harness for the TT, so no splicing of wires, however i can't arm my car while it's is still on. I know there are ways to do it, but have no clue how. ANy suggestion ?

Same problem - I just lock the car before leaving, but that doesn't arm it even when the TT goes off. In NYC it's a bigger priority, I imagine. I'd like to know how to go about it too. I've been considering selling my TT with the center piece and getting a pre-luber. Not only is that far better, it's in no way tied into the car's alarm system/ignition...

Thumbs up

I installed the type 1 in my rex last night and i love it, sadly hks failed to put a ecu guide in the package. I think i found a map that will help and im going to try it tonight, if it works ill post it and youll have fun playen with your new toy just like i will.
I aslo love where you placed the timer, IT LOOKS GREAT. Sadly i have a huge problem with cutting dash parts in my car so i mounted it on my streering colum with velcro so it can be easily hidden or picked up if i need to get close to it. WISH ME LUCK TONIGHT, ILL POST IT. oh and if youve ever put a turbo timer in a car, putting one in a rex was the biggest pain in the A$$ ive ever had doing it. Its usually a 15 minute job.

Hey REX,

thanks I found several pinouts since, all of which are complete and more than good enough. I also figured that the part I cut into is pretty small and won't cost much to find in a junk yard (eventually) or to swap with another Scoobie owner that wants the TT. The install would have been about 15 minutes (with the harness), but it's the cutting that took me a while. Good luck

I want to know for the Memory Mode....
If I can set my own time rather than have it set to 1 min and the second memory to 3 min??? for exmaple..... Memory 1 is set to 2 minutes instead of 1 min and memory 2 set to 7 minutes instead of 3 min........

Also for the auto mode, does it only have the maximum of 5 minutes??? does that mean if i have being driving the car really hard for 30 minutes it will only still stay at a maximum of 5 minutes or will it go higher than 5 minutes???

Also is the Greddy TT good?? and what is the maximum time for Greddy..?

Hope you guys can help me out...
