I think I found it, lemme know what you think?
Ok, it's a 99 Forester L Limited...
So it's like an L that's hopped up to an S.
It's got this funky altimiter computer, 4 (not 2) heated seats, step boards, roof rack, rear deflector, front brush guard, leather, aftermarket Ronal Rims.
It's mint, 23000 miles, only some paint nicks on the front of the hood from what appears to be road debris.
Dealer is asking $17995.
I think the wife is gonna head down in the morning and take a test drive and make a deposit.

I don't know where you live from your profile, so I'm guessing a Forester L Limited is either a Canadian or US regional edition? I've never heard of it before.
Rear heated seats sound like a treat - I only have front heated seats in my '00S and I like them a lot. There are a couple things on the S that made me choose it over the L: rear disc brakes and a limited slip rear differential. These may not make a difference to you. Although the S has painted lower body cladding, many S owners (including me sometimes) wish they had the unpainted lower cladding of the L as scratches don't show as badly and are easier to blend into the plastic. Subarus - especially those, like the Forester, built in Japan - have very thin, soft paint that chips badly. You may want to invest in some sort of protection like a deflector or car bra; these can also harm the paint if dirt gets underneath them so many people choose an adhesive product called ClearBra made by 3M (I don't work for them).
Price? $18K seems a bit high for a 3-year old L given that new ones can be had for under $20K. OTOH used Foresters are rare; 98-99s are only now starting to show up on lots in my area. Do your homework and find out what bluebook and wholesale prices are, and use them to make your deal.
The Forester Forum isn't heavily populated here; more owners are on the Ultimate Subaru Message Board and Edmund's Town Hall Community. Those few of us here like our Foresters a lot; it's not a perfect car but (speaking for myself) it does everything I want it to and then some - great bang for the buck. As the Forester's mechanicals are largely based on the last-generation Impreza, many of the performance modifications for Imprezas can be adapted to Foresters (that's why I'm here!).

I also second Ed's opinion that the price sounds a tad high. The accessories you mentioned are nice, but keep in mind that used car dealers will charge premiums for items like that.
I've never heard of a L Limited here in the US, but you may want to try cross referencing KBB or some other used car information to get a feel for what the market value is. Out of the accessories you mentioned, the leather and rims are probably the most expensive.

Well as 1 of the 58 registered Forester members I would have to tell you I have been very pleased with my 01 L with AT.
Does the puppy have auto trans? and where are you located.?The price seems a little high to me also and I recommend you check out www.kbb.com for some value estimates.
Also be sure to get it checked out by a reliable mechanic and see if you can trace it's history.
Right now you are not that far away from a base model 02...
Anyway..good luck I hope you join the ranks
