Default Feeler: NESIC Rye Airfield skate / BMX meet?

There seem to be a number of skaters and BMX'ers round here. I was perusing the Rye Airfield Skatepark site the other day and wondered about putting together a group trip. The Indoor Skydiving thread got me thinking about it.

Partial overview:

In a nutshell, Rye is arguably the sickest skate / bmx park in New England. It's also weatherproof, clean, and easy to get to (halfway between Hampton, NH and York, ME).

They are closed on Mondays, but will take private groups. They are also open to private groups after their 8:45 evening closure.

Here's the group rate page:

Hours of Operation
School Year

Monday - closed
Tuesday - 3pm - 8:45pm
Wednesday - 12noon - 8:45pm
Thursday - 3pm - 8:45pm
Friday - 3pm - 8:45pm
Saturday - 9am - 8:45pm
Sunday - 9am - 5:45

Interested in having our 50,000 square foot park for just you and your friends? Through our park rental program that is possible!

All day Monday, and after our last session every other day of the week, Rye Airfield's indoor skate park is available to rent.
For $150/hour (2 hour minimum) you and up to 49* other people can enjoy having New England's premier park all to yourself. You can rent the park as a work function, for a birthday party or even as a customer appreciation day. There are many different ways to take advantage of this unique program. Other upgrades are available beyond just renting the park with our available function rooms and opportunities for clinics and concerts. Just use your imagination to come up with the best way for you to use a Rye Airfield park rental!

Interested? Call 603.964.2800 to rent the park today!

*$5 per person after 50
My proposal would be to assemble a crew of at least 20 people for at least 2 hours ($300 / 20 = $15 each). Two hours of hard skating is plenty. If we want to hang out for 3-4 hours and be more slackful, it would just be more money and we could shoot for 30+ people to offset the cost. The place is immense and will easily accomodate that number of people without a lot of waiting.

I'll leave it at this for now - just a feeler. Depending on the level of response, then we can talk about scheduling.

I'm kind of interested, I'm moving to Bangor soon, and even though Rye is still considerably far away from there, I'm sure I'd make a trip to see some fellow Subaru... enthusiasts or whatever. That, and I skate, and every now and then, rollerblade.

i havent skated since february.... (no time so far this year but soon will be free!)

anwyays the park is nice. my first and only itme there, i didnt really have alot of fun b/c parents think skateparks are babysitters these days.

some jackass let his 5 yr old w/ training wheels pedal around the park while he sat and shot the **** with other parents up in the balcony area. WTF!

private could be VERY FUN. esp since we could actually sweep the bowls plus 15$ is what you pay for public session so thats fine! cheaper = better. 30 people would still be empty in that place its so big.

anyways, i could most likely get 10+ older rippers (30-45yrs old) together myself if it was a weekend w/ ample notice. we'd never would leave the bowl area so rest of the park would still be wide open for street skating. depends on how NESIC you want to keep it.

we had a huge rampjam 2 weeks ago down in hartford at a ramp a couple friends and i built at one of their houses. i didnt even skate there...ugh. check some pics below

Just cut up black socks and don't go near people of authority there until you take them off.

That ramp looks awesome. What is it, 3 foot? I'm helping to build a ramp out in Beacon Falls later this fall and that looks like a great size.
