Question Tornado? Has anyone tried it?

I've had some insomnia lately and I saw this infomercial last night for the Tornado. It slips into your intake pipe and it supposedly cleans the incoming turbulent air and allows for more air and better mixture, giving you more HP and better gas mileage. Has anyone tried this in any of their cars. Looks kind of interesting.

MUAHAHAHAHAHA. SCC did a write-up on. You might as well pray for more hp, 'cuz it'll be more effective.

no, that was a electric supercharger... different animal. This is like a pinwheel in your intake tube.

really? I thought that is what the Tornado was. huh. In that case you are right. It adds about as much power as a sticker.

There is no way it can speed up the air.

Thumbs down Discussions

There were discussions on this. Many discussions. Do a search under 'SpiralMax' as well as Tornado.

First Discussion

Second Discussion

Third Discussion

I can't believe this guy is still going strong advertising.
Search! Search! Search!

I copy and pasted an old response of mine.

"Ok...I couldn't help myself so I HAD to do a search on this through my tons of SCC. Look in SCC issue of August 1999, 'The Tornado Chronicles', pg. 251.

SCC tested two cars. A 1983 Mazda RX-7 and a fuel-injected 1994 Acura Integra GS-R. Two dynojets were used also. One on a Dynojet at R&D Dyno in Gardena, Calif., and another, performed by a Ron Bell somewhere else (read the story). Anyway, Jay Kim (General Manager of Tornado Air Management) did the install himself. To make a long story short, the integra gained a whopping 1hp and no torque. The Mazda RX-7 gained an earth-shattering, eye-popping -1hp and no torque.

On of the dyno tests had to be thrown out because it was not consistent, varying by 40hp. *gasp* The other one was good. Gas mileage was increased slightly though by 4.8% (25.2-26.4mpg).

I just stopped by the site and noticed this: * SpiralMax is not related to or affiliated with Tornado , owned and manufactured by Cyclone USA, Inc. I don't know what to tell you. The article shows in it that Tornados website is EXACTLY the same as spiralmax.com. Be your own judge!"

Hehe, we were overdue for a Tornado thread. I was beginning to worry.

I always get a kick out of these things. BTW, the electric supercharger was called e-ram, iirc.

HEHE I have also heard of the Turbonator. Its the one that really works. goto Turbonator.com . Even Billy Bob with the good ol POS says it works. hey I think hes missing a tooth or two or three. Anyways, if you can't trust this guy who can you trust. HEHE

I emailed them asking for some dyno-charts of some sort and they said that its all right there on the site. I looked all over the site and all I was a few people saying it was good and a price. Didn't win me over sorry.

Dyno sheets? Heck, they don't even have pictures of the product! This is as close as they get:

I was up really late last night and finally saw the Tornado infomercial. Hysterical!

C'mon, if that little old lady can get it on her car, so can I! I'm gonna get one, I hope it gives as much power increase as my STI sticker.

Rumor has it if you the the "Turbo Inside" sticker on both sides of your car (twin turbo) and put Legacy B4 badging on, then they're good for at least 3,657 HP at all 4 wheels.
