Forester OEM Tranny Cooler Install

I ordered a tranny cooler late last week from Ben (HondaSlayer) and it came in today I hope to be able to install it this weekend. I originally wanted to retrofit one but early on the OEM install manual indicated that it involved removing the front bumper skin. Not something I really wanted to do. Later they revised the instructions showing how you can get to it from the bottom. Looks pretty simple. There is a tranny line loop to hook into right by the drivers side fog lamp. I'll be doing an install page eventually but here are a few pics, I hope they work:

It was 160 something, from memory, I'd have to look to be sure. I'm sure there are aftermarket ones cheaper but to have something that fits properly and it bolt on I think it's worth it.

Did the install, it was pretty simple. I was glad that a very small amount of fluid drained out when I took the line off. The worst part is getting the bottom cover and then another cover off. Lots of those plastic buttons to remove is all. Installing the cooler itself is pretty easy.

What are the benefits of this cooler anyway? Does it do anything for your tranny in day to day driving, or is it specifically for the loads produced by towing heavy cargo only? Is it worth investing in if you DON'T tow stuff but commute a lot?

Heat is what kills most things like the fluid itself. I live in KS and it can get very hot here. Keeping things cool are always a good idea to extend the life of your motor and tranny. The B9 already has an oil cooler (it's under the oil filter) I think a tranny oil cooler can only help extend it's life or reduce the risk for trouble later in it's life. I don't plan on towing anything but my wife does commute a fair distance.
