Default FS IL: 03 PSM WRX/JDM STI Type RA Spec C swap

New house purchase has me contemplating selling this car. Note that I don't need to sell, so I can wait for the right buyer/price. WILL NOT PART-OUT! However, I'll listen to trade offers, and I am willing to ship at buyer's expense. Title is in my possession.

Parts included but not installed:
- Perrin PSRS
- Perrin turbo inlet (red)

- Extra rear V7 STI strut

Known problems:
- New bumper cover needed (see below)
- 3 small chips (bb sized) on driver's door
- Small rub marks on TMIC from ill-advised APS splitter

History:
I am the third owner. I purchased this car over a year ago from a former NASIOC member who has since gone BMW. He purchased the car with 11k miles, had the swap done by Kingpin at approximately 18k. I purchased the car with 23k and have driven it daily since.

Before I made the purchase, I spoke with Clark Turner from Kingpin several times via email. He said that this was the "tightest" JDM motor he had ever received and that it was in perfect shape. I can forward these emails to anyone who is interested. As far as the ECUtek tune, Clark said that the car was currently tuned conservatively, and that he had left "plenty on the table." He offered to fine-tune the ECU if I shipped it to him in AZ, but I never took him up on it. The car was plenty fast for me.

With Clark's assurances I purchased the car. I then installed all of the suspension and Perrin goodies, added the scoop, splitter, and 5zigens. I also added "Uncle Scotty's Cocktail" to the 5mt, redline synthetic to the rear diff, and changed the oil with Mobil 1 every 3k.

The Accident:
12/19/2005. On my way to work, slow traffic (10-15 mph). I switch lanes, glance in my rearview to make sure the car behind was backing off, and look down in time to see the car in front slam on their brakes. I do the same, and stop...about 1 foot too late. Damn winter tires.

The car I hit was a jacked-up Jeep Cherokee. The collision scuffed their bumper, but broke my grill, one headlight, and buckled my hood (see pics below). It did no mechanical damage, and I drove it home. It was repaired at a respected local shop (serves the local Volvo and Cadillac dealers) with OEM parts. I have all of the records.

"Accident" 2:
9/9/2006. Citgo gas station. Inside the crowded station paying for my 93 octane with cash. This is unusual, as I usually pay at the pump. I look past the other patrons and I can just see the top of my car. Start to look away and I see it move! Run outside in time to see a brown/tan Explorer pulling out of the lot. I vaguely remember this car being at the pump in front of me, so I check the front of the WRX. Sure enough, the guy backed into me and ran. The plastic is obviously damaged and the paint is spidered. Call the police, file a report, and leave. When I get to my destination (picking up my daughters b-day cake!) I notice that all that spidered paint has blown away. Nice.

Price:
$17,500 AS-IS. I'll listen to offers, and while I am willing to have the bumper cover replaced if buyer requests, that would alter my price.

PM or EMAIL if interested.

Thanks for looking-
Brad

How much did I pay for what? The swap was complete when I purchased the car. My purchase price of the car isn't relevant to my sale, but I will tell you that I will not be making a profit.

Thanks for the interest.

Pics from today, as promised:
First, the bumper. Washing removed even more paint. Sigh...:

Now, imagine what it would look like with a new bumper cover:

I really like your car That V7 motor is awesome: where do you have your redline set at? 8250RPMs?

Thanks, man. Ditto.

I was told that redline is 8500, but I've never tested it. Most I've seen is 8k.

Congrats, Frank!

$240-ish to have the bumper cover shipped from one of the online OEM retailers (subarugenuineparts.com, etc) and then whatever your local bodyshop would charge to spray the paint. They are pretty easy to install yourself (I'm telling you...you're the mechanic!).

Yea, but the UTEC was $425 and I was told roughly $300+ to tune. If you wanna make a deal untuned we may be able to work something out. But if you want it tuned, your car needs to be fixed as well. Think a bit and lemme know.

Bump. Checking old emails, I realized this afternoon that I was way off on engine mileage. Actually only has 25k miles, not 32k. Edited above.

bump for a good deal! People should be all over this! To fix the front bumper, buy one used off the forums, and it should be no more than $300 to paint at even the most expensive painter. (then no stone chips and better than OEM paint!) The seller seems super honest and up front with the car's history. He could have just replaced hood on and replaced the headlight, the accident looks so minor, and called it even. Good Luck Selling!

Thanks.

I have had a few people suggest that I take down the image of the accident, as it may be scaring away potential buyers. However, I am trying to do as you say: be honest. Everyone should feel free to check my feedback here or on eBay (same username).

Awesome WRX. I don't think you should take down the pics. If anything, they make you out as a more honest and reputable seller. Besides, the damage is very minor, and pales in comparison to "niceness" of the car you get. Bump for a clean and probably very fast WRX. GL.
