Kingpin is closed. The buisness has been purchased, consequently closed, and re-opened with new ownership / management.

Will the buyer make good on all previous monies owed?

I f sombody bought it and money traded hands, anyone with a judgement may have a claim against the new owner or go after the name and all rights! Or find out what type of escrow and get involved.

Maybe if they would have followed their company motto posted on their website ...
Quote:
Kingpin Unltd: From Humble Beginnings grows a champion. Long after the sweetness of a low price is gone remains the bitterness of a job poorly done. Grand Nephews of a bootlegger the original hotrodders. Grandsons of a master mechanic. Great Grandsons of a railroad engineer. These Celtic Sons have motoring in their blood. Stingy Scotts who mind the pennies and let the dollars take care of themselves. Honest men who believe that a customer deserves the best. Never ones to believe they are without fault and always willing to atone for their sins. Wise enough to know that they donít know it all so they surround themselves with those who are the best at what they do. More willing to break a dollar then bend a moral. Where a customer is more than a chump with a buck but rather a friend we havenít had the privilage of meeting. So the sun rises we make power. We are Kingpin.

Kingpin was bought out by another person last week. They are in the process of settling old accounts left by the previous owner. I just got off the phone with the new owner as I had just bought an UP a couple weeks ago.

I really hope Mike didn't walk away with money in his pocket or else a lesson was not learned.

Sorry for the fairly cryptic post, i have this information, because i am the one who has purchased Kingpin Performance. The new shop is called Squid Auto, it is run by the two managing partners, Myself (Shawn) and Kyle.

To answer the questions you have alreay brought up:

I am in the Dallas Facility. I do also own the Phoenix facility, and do not know what is going to happen to it. Right now, we are focused on finishing projects. More than likely, the phoenix facility will stay open as an installation facility, also with a name change to Squid Auto. However, i am most focused on the Dallas facility at the moment and getting it up to speed. I can't do both at the same time, and since i am here, it's the logical choice for me to start with. The phoneix number will ring to my office in dallas, just like the dallas one does.

I am in the process of going through old accounts and am attempting to settle debts owed by Mike. Now, understand, a lot of this money isn't owed by me or the new company that has been created, but it's a lot easier for me to get money out of Mike, than it is for you to. So what i'm trying to do is take care of the people who need to be taken care of, and then i'll argue with Mike about the money. The reason for this is simply because i want to create a little trust between what i'm doing and the community, and i know settling these problems is paramount to that happening. I also know how it feels to feel like you have been screwed, and i'm going to do what i can to make sure that my buisness has a clean slate, and a good reputation. THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN OVERNIGHT. It is going to take time for me to go through all this, and it's going to take time for me to get the money together to cover all of it. But i will make it happen, and if you are patient with me, i'll bend over backwards to help you out and get your money to you, or get your parts to you, or get new parts to you to cover the money or parts you never got in the first place.

Mike didn't walk away with anything, in fact, I'm sure he took quite a loss to sell this place.

The Legacy Project now belongs to us. I did a considerable amount of work on the car when i worked for Kingpin anyway, so we are continuing that project. The vehicle on ebay is the same Legacy, but it is in fact sold by Squid Auto. In fact many things are going to be the same. I'm not trying to hide the fact that this company used to be the defunct Kingpin Performance. We have kept the same phone numbers, kingpinperformance.com will re-route people to our website (which will be located at squidauto.com), the website design has stayed almost exactly the same. Those things aren't changing because i'm not trying to hide, actually, i want people to know that this used to be Kingpin. The good things about that are staying.

What will not be the same is everything about how this buisness has been run. First of all, we aren't just a Subaru shop anymore. We will still continue to be innovators in the Subaru community, and offer everything that we did before, but we will also be bringing our extensive experience with Nissan, Toyota, Honda, and many others. We are even building several 450-500hp V-8's currently. We are going to be a true speed shop. You want it faster, better, or stronger, bring it to us and we can do it.

Second, the Dallas location will be changing. We are looking at several spaces at the moment, but we are looking for something that gives us more capabilities as a shop, and has the space and zoning provided to put in our 4-wheel mustang dyno.

Third, the Dallas Dyno is a done deal, and we will have it as soon as we move, whenever that happens, hopefuly by begining of April.

Finally, and most importantly, I'm going to be straight with everyone. We can't do everything, we can't do everything fast, and we can't do everything cheap. if there is a part i can't get, or a job i can't do, i'm going to tell you. Then i'm going to help you find the best place that can get it, or can do it. This is not the same place, it's not the same people, and it's certainly not the same mindset.

There are several people that aren't going to be happy no matter what i say or do, and that's ok. When you have been hit as hard as some people have been hit by all this crap it never heals. I understand that, but i'm going to do what i can to make a great buisness, and fill the void of good, quality tuner shops that has been missing in the Dallas area for a very long time. All i can do is start working hard at doing the right thing, i hope everyone will get what they want, but inevitably, some won't be satified.

I hope that answers most if not all of the questions right now. I know this won't be fixxed overnight, and i know it's going to take a lot of work to make this place sucessfull. The only real point i need to make is that i'm ready for it. There is a press release in the forums of the website, currently still at kingpinperformance.com (Squidauto.com should be up within 48 hours of this posting) If you have any questions, please post here and i'll do my best to answer them, or contact me at the shop, i'll be happy to talk with you.
