Kingpin is an awesome place to have custom work done to your ride. They are great about everything, answer all my questions, get all the products that I want, and have excellend prices. Although, they are extremely busy with all the JDM cars that come through their shop, they get things done and they do it right.

The only thing I say is not so great is the temperature in Phoenix jk. I recently switched shops to kingpin and started ordering all my junk from them and have them (clark) do my tuning.

STi type ra spec C seats-- from kingpin

Sti V7 wheel and cluster- from kingpin

Ordered my axis motor from them and had them install my turbo and do some custom piping for me

Here is the custom piping that their fab tech did

I've order a lot of parts from them, and I'm sure it's not the end of the parts I'm going to purchase from them either. Good things.

Hey Mike and all - Kingpin Rocks! Half of my car (or perhaps more?) has come from the boys in AZ, and the customer service has always been great.

I did have to wait a while for my RA Spec C engine and drivetrain, but shipping from Japan is an inexact science, at best. The first set he had lined up was damaged, so he called me and let me know, and set me up with the right stuff when he had it lined up.

They also set me a crazy price on my DR500 back in the day.

Thanks again, guys! Oh, and a local dealer had a new O2 sensor, and she'll be killing it tonight.

Mike - check the conversions thread. Once I swapped in the new O2 sensor, she came up perfect. This engine is smoother and quieter than my stock motor was.

With the better heads, cams and finally removing the one high-flow cat, it screams. I think I need to change my wastegate spring though. With the stock motor, the helper spring I used gave me a wastegate pressure of about 17psi. On the new motor, it's more like 23. However, at 23psi it runs flawlessly, in 5th and 6th gear pulls, on 93 octane!!!! I'm a little rich right now, and my timing is the same map I used on the stock engine, so there's plenty of room to grow here. I can't wait to take the time to really tune it.

Yet another satisfied Kingpin customer...

Default Simply, The Best Vendor Available

I have dealt with numerous vendors prior to Kingpin but none come close to the customer satisfaction and excellent communication Kingpin offers. I believe we have all finially found a vendor that actually cares about their products and especially about their customers. Thank you Mike, you're a KING!!

Angry Kingpin = the worst transaction I've ever had

I'll make this short and sweet.
Ordered a transmission using my bank card back in sept at the week of sept 6-10th. Unfortunately my account will not allow me to send more than 2000 at a time so the payment was denied initially. No one called of course to let me know this, and I realized it after checking my account that the payment was never sent. After I called and spoke to Mike we realized that more than likely there's a limit on how much I could pay for at one time, so we separated the payment into three segments. This was completed on sept 13, and I was told 6-10 business days before I'd receive the trans.

On Sept 28 or 29th I still hadn't received the trans so I gave Mike a call, explained to him that I hadn't received the transmission. He said he would look into it and get back to me and that I should have gotten it. I had to call the next day to find out what the deal was as I hadn't gotten a call back. He said it was shipped out west, instead of the east coast where I live. Fine, not a problem, he said he would make sure it got routed to the right direction.

After a week, I called mike to find out about the 4th of Oct when the transmission would arrive or a tracking number. I, of course need to be home when it gets dropped off in order to sign for the package otherwise they won't leave it. He said he'd get back to me, he didn't, so the next day I called him. Told me he didn't have it and he would get back to me and the same thing up until thursday when he said his secretary had the information/ tracking number and he would get back to me when she arrived he also explained it was being shipped through DHL.

Still nothing, so now I found myself on friday the 8th of Oct having ordered the transmission 25 days earlier and it was supposed to show up that day per Mike. I called in the morning and got no answer. Finally on Friday afternoon I get his secretary when I call, she doesn't know where the tracking number is and needs to talk to Mike and will get back to me.

I leave work early, because not knowing when the transmission will show up, leaves me with no choice but to be home when its supposedly going to show up. I call DHL and go through their customer service line till I get a representative, and she looks up Kingpin's acct and zip code and reports to me that she's got no shipments or transactions on his acct at all. So much for being shipped through DHL.

I call back and leave a message with the secretary that I'll be retracting my payment through an appeal process if Mike doesn't call me back and let me know whats going on. HE CALLED ME BACK, and let me know that the transmission showed up back at his shop. He offered to refund my shipping and give me a discount, which I eventually declined to get my money back. I needed the trans before a certain date in order to get it installed and I wasn't waiting another two weeks.

There's more false promises of calling me back to give me an update as to the situation with my refund, but as of today, I've only received 2/3rd's of my payments and Im still waiting on the final one. It's been 3 weeks Mike since you said you'd refund me, where is the last payment? I know you said there was a balance dispute between you and your credit company and that nothing gets processed till thats settled, but that has nothing to do with me. I've already faxed the receipt you sent me to my bank and they'll be processing the appeal to get my money back. You can deal with them, because patience has gotten me nowhere with you.

edit: oops, I put the word transaction in the title of this thread, in order for this to have been a transaction, there would have to be goods or services exchanged. That didn't happen.

As far as I know he did not work at Vivid. Also they are great at customer service and resolve they're issues w/ unsatisfied customers, and doing a search on this board reflects that. Running a profitable and booming business will have a few bugs here and there, and anyone who ever ran a business would agree that (crap) happens. It looks like they tried to help out w/ this situation and did the right thing but sometimes the customer feels it's not good enough unless it's free.

Hey William,

I apologize again for the mix up with shipping on your order. I know it has been difficult to get a hold of me personally at times as we have been growing faster than we can keep up with. We have however brought on 2 more guys including the legendary Clark Turner (AZScoobie) to help us keep up with demand. We have refunded your money in full. If there is anything else we can do for you please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you.

It has absolutely nothing to do with never being happy. In fact, it wasn't until I was kept given "the runaround" for approx two months during the whole deal that I finally decided to voice this first off.

Second off, I would have been completely fine if I was just told the truth or
"I don't know" instead of made false promises throughout. Im glad you never had a problem with them and think they are good guys. I'm sure they are, but them being good guys has no bearing on the way they do business.

I had heard nothing but excellent things about them from doing a search on here about their past deals. Thats what made me go through them. What point are you trying to make by saying they could have taken my money and closed shop? Yes things could have been worse, but since they weren't I have no ground to stand on by making a complaint?

You have every right to voice your complaint William and we appreciate you doing so. We can only correct our mistakes and have a chance to grow and become a better company if we are called out on our mistakes. I think that in your case more than anything there was a problem with promt responce and communication. Something we have noted to be suffering due to us being under staffed. We have made the move to correct that by bringing on more staff to handle these situations and implementing a policy of sending the customer oder info (tracking, updates, ect..) the same day that the packages ships or event occurs via email or telephone.

We cannot of course control what the shipping company does with the package when it leaves the shop. We did offer to complete refund for the shipping when the shipment beacme delayed. I feel that was a fair solution. One which you orginally agreed to before changing your mind later and cancelling the order. We did not however get you tracking for the shipment in a timely matter. We ourselves had a very difficult time dealing with DHL. This was one of only two shipments we have ever used them on. Both of which have ended similarly. Obviously we have learned not to use them as a freight carrier.

Nor cannot we force the Credit Card Processor we use for our service to finalize the transaction faster once we have inputed into their system. Once the money leaves our account it is up to them to return it to you. We can apply pressure, which we did, but cannot forced the transation thru faster. Your transaction was delayed as I explained to you because of a fraudulant transaction we recived from over seas. What we could have done is kept in beter communication with you regarding this situation and kept you up to date on the progress. I know it can be frustrating to be "in the dark" while waiting for a transaction to finalize. It is something that we deal with on a regular basis from other Vendors and it drives us nuts also. We have made a point of it and will do our best to keep all customers more promptly informed in the future.

I agree that this trasnaction did not go smoothly and I apologize for that. If there is anything that we can do to make it up to your and/or if there is somthing that we could have done better that I missed here please do not hesitate to mention it. I wish you all the best with your project. Thank you.

correction, I agreed to the refund of shipping after it hadn't shown up the second time, or 2 weeks after it was supposed to show up(the initial 2 weeks)...

The rest of it is true, it's done now as far as I'm concerned. To be a man of your word is what I expect, just doing the things you say your going to do is what you could do better.

Here is my KingPin experience.

I bought a ton of stuff from KingPin. Engine, interior etc... My JDM engine was late arriving. I was like ***??? I got the shipping details from Mike. Sure enough, the shipping info kept changing on the web. Delivery dates came and went. The freight outfit even said they stopped by for delivery but no one was there when they never came by! I was there the entire day the first day they claimed no one was there. They did that for 4 days! I can say shipping stuff freight is less than relaible. Well it is usually reliable in that stuff eventually gets where it is going, but timly, no.

Freight provider nonsense stuff aside, with my items, KingPin paid for them and told me to settle up later. I sent them a blank check becasue I felt bad having them hold my inventory unpaid for. Sure enough, they wrote the signed blank check for exact amount. Not a penny more. I did that twice if I remember.

I got exactly what I wanted, in the condition I wanted. No, better, at a great price and was not hastled at all. Except by the freight outfit. Here is the thing, my engine did not perform as expected. Nothing wrong with it, just no one had really upgraded a version 8 motor yet. I had KingPin check it and then had the dealer check it. Timing, compresion and leakdown. Everything was fine. Something was clearly different with V8 motors and no one knew what. Was not making power. Less than a Stage3 USDM motor. KingPin immediatly offered me a new engine. No questions. Even offered to put in a new 2.5 bottom end or full coveted Spec C motor if I wanted it. No, I wanted the V8. I stuck with it. They tuned and retuned it on the dyno at 0 cost to me. Mike and Clark kept saying we just want it to be right and you to be happy. We are talking 100 dyno pulls over 3 months. KingPin never hung it over my head. Simply smiled and said, "if you have any other concerns or want someting changed, just let us know" Well the engine out performs V7 motors now it just took some time. (Different thread) Point is, that my friends, is customer service. I did not get "you got what you wanted, it is not working out for you, we can help but it will cost" Engine is now superb. KingPin unlocked the Ver8 secrets. Thhey did at no cost even though I was the one blazing into uncharted territory and got my a** in a bind on the leading edge. I calculate I "owe" them about $1000 in time. Don't know why they did it, but I know alot of shops would not spend thier resources like that to make a customer happy. I was not complaining either as I got what I asked for and it was not deffective. They sensed my unhappiness as a whole with the JDM thing and kept driving to resolve the issue. "we'll swap it for you if you want to stop trying to get it to make power" they kept saying. Nope I said, well give it more time if that is ok. I now drive the smoothest JDM engine on the West Coast and the performance exceedes my expectations.

Oh, I just paid for my school semester and the school charged me twice. Money came out 3 hours later but refund took 3 weeks. Almost $1000 I had to wait for. My Sleep number bed matress also broke. They told me, no problem, 3-4 days a new one would arrive by UPS. That was 2 weeks ago. I called back they now say, don't know who told you that, computer shows November 5th. Man, stuff just happens with shipping and orders and inventory and customers and money and billing. I don't know why, it just does.

Here is my technique. With any purchase, there is a difference between a scam and stuff that just happens. Working with the vendors through these times is the best way to ensure a good working relationship in the future. If you need a rare hard to get item some day, they may just remember your optimism and patience and land that item for you at a great price as a thankyou.

Works for me.

People have got to understand...jdm stuff doesn't come in on the 4-6 weeks that is told to you Japan delays it US delays it. Hell the order might not be put through the second you order it. Gotta remember that they have to order alot cause it's same for shipping in that container. If you want it with 5 business days...you can do that but you better be prepared to pay out the ass...otherwise suck it up and wait like the rest of us. Thanks

First off Kingpin awesome! I have bought a fuel system, FMIC, had my car reflashed with the Ecutek, and V7 Gauge Cluster that I just love. Mike and the guys down at Kingpin are great people and hold their customer up high. I plan on doing business with Kingpin as along as I own my Wrx and its not going anywhere soon. Thanks Mike for all the help. O yeah slowly learning KM/h. No ticket yet so doing good.
