I see a lot of people with bombers, but anyone still believe in climbing? As much as I hated it at the time I think I missed good climbs the most.

Just finished up building my first single speed. this was definitely on a budget. I found an older yellow Cannondale on Craigslist for $100, completely stripped it down to the frame.
This is what it looked like (not the same frame, just a pic for ref)

Then stripped off all the paint, and spent about 10 hours wetsanding it from 400/800/1000/1500/2000 grit sand paper. Then I polished it
I then stripped the paint off the old Judy fork, and repainted it.

Built it up with some parts laying around the garage. It has some crap wheels, and the fork is pretty shot....but it's a nice commuter for now

lots of fancy stuff in here. went out for a nice 25-ish mile ride through some really tricky terrain today. the one time i leave my point&shoot at home.

i like how it's a good 20 degrees cooler in the middle of the woods compared to the city

My scalpel is far from a bomber. The climbing ability is what really sold me on it.

~~Quentin is pissed off at the f'ing rain we've been getting

A normal ride is great, but don't knock riding the lift to the top until you try it.

I don't mean the 6 miles up a mountain type thing. I had 20+ miles of trail back home, with a 7 mile loop I knew by heart. I would do the 3 mile loop which took my within a 1/2 mile of the parking lot then drop down to the creek level and have to climb out via a 4 mile loop. Then I'd do the 3 miler backwards.

There was a climb, up next to the church heading towards Drummond Hill road that made me puke every time the first year I got back into riding. By the time I was in the best shape I was doing it middle ring/middle ring standing. I could do the whole 10 mile loop in just over an hour. Those were the climbs I missed.

I love the welds on cannondales (I have two) they were always easy to sell at the higher price once you explain how stronger they are

I'll share a few

Older picture of my Surly Instigator, which is my XC ride. I have much fatter tires on it now:

Dean Colonel built into a single speed with eno hubs...Ti is nice.

Woodrup sport tourer. Reynolds 531 and DuraAce.

Kona Smoke 2-9. My commuter.

1959 Gazelle. Sunday cruiser.

1965 Phillips. Town bike for short errands...acquired last weekend. Currently fixing up and riding at the same time.

And there are more.....

for sure, the thing is a pig up any kind of hill and kinda sucks in the flats because of the super low bb...pedals hit everything and it doesnt have a front derailluer. but its heavenly downhill.
