the park in the video...not too many people ride there now, mostly over stupid crap like this person not liking that person . theres only 3-5 of us that go there regularly now. and the kids are even worse there....

just found out one of my friends got worked at Baco, super nice guy and great rider too...

Getting broken off is something that happens to all of us, we all understand that it's a possibility every time we straddle the top tube. Especially at a contest- we try our hardest to bust out our biggest tricks, usually stuff that we don't do every session for the simple reason that the chance of getting hurt is so high.

This weekend at Baco, Team Pimpske's Filthy Phil Jones was the unlucky one. He was trying to toothpick the huge sub-box out of the bowl half-it's about 15 feet high. He more or less landed on his face. It sucked. He was bleeding from the nose. Catfish, Chad DeGroot, and Dave Freimuth were there instantly. Phil is 6'3" or so, and Catfish is 5'7" in high heels, but he was able to get Phil to lie still when Phil reared up off the ground a split second after he landed. He was out on his feet, not really knowing where he was. Freimuth and Catfish were able to get his helmet off and keep him from getting up again, which he kept trying to do. Dave was holding Phil's hand and trying to calm him down. Phil complained that he couldn't hear anything. He was clearly in a lot of pain, there was blood in his eyes. It was awful.

After what seemed like an eternity, but was probably only about 10 minutes, the paramedics showed up and took over. They got him on a backboard and immobilized his neck, and loaded him onto a stretcher. The paramedics were talking about flying him to Orlando Regional hospital before they even had him on the stretcher.

So that's what they did. The helicopter landed in the field where the Pimpske truck was parked last year, and flew him out. He spent the night in intensive care, with a broken orbital bone (the bone below the eye) and a broken jaw, as well has blood on the brain. He is scheduled for a surgery tonight, I'm not sure for what but I will obviously post details as I get them. He's probably going to need some plastic surgery to fix his face. Like I said, it was awful.

They generally only allow family members to visit a patient in intensive care, but Nik and Ryan and Kyle Joo had all come down to Baco with Phil, so Phil told the nurses in intensive care to let them come up to see him, so he's at least aware enough to be able to do that, which is definitely a good sign. As far as I know, there's no damage to his neck or back, again, a good sign. When they went up to talk to him, they had to yell so that he could hear them, but at least they were able to communicate.

I talked to Mangler this afternoon, who had spoken with Popple. Phil's dad is en route and should be in Orlando by tomorrow. He should be in the hospital at least a week, and as of this afternoon he'd been moved to Trauma 2, which is the less intensive intensive care, I guess. This is another good sign.

We will be getting a benefit for Phil's face together this week, and I'll post all the details when we get it all figured out.

What size frame is that? The wheels look tiny relative to the frame in the 2nd picture.

2005 gary fisher marlin, bone stock. It's been having shifting problems, but besides that it's a pretty solid bike, for me anyway (major upgrade from riding on singletrack with a trek 820). I'm thinking of getting clipless pedals but I'm sort of afraid of smashing my face up.

While those are certainly cool, I tend to focus on some of the rarer stuff.

Here's my late 1984 MCS Styler...dual chain-stay model.

This is the rarest frameset I own.

1984 Torker Freestylist... serial number 108400007. That's Oct 1984. 7th one ever made. Torker went chapter 11 bankruptcy in December and was totally out of business for 4 years after that.

There are only 3 pairs of these forks known to exist today. When I got the frameset over 2 years ago it looked like it was used as a boat anchor for the last twenty years!

Here she is two years later - the restoration is now complete!

Wow! That gives me a flashback of the past. I had a GT Pro Performer that looked almost identical to that. Same plastic seat, same seat bend, I had the same GT pegs, White GT tires with white mags. Only difference was mine was purple. My buddy got the same bike but in a very brilliant blue. Much more than the blue on the pictured frame.

BTW, let me ad you do some great restoration work. Looks fantastic!
