Suspension is upgraded in the OBS. OBS has fogs, two tone paint, 16" wheels vs. 15" on the TS, OBS comes with a removable cargo tray w/ 12 volt power outlet, cruise control, tie down hooks, keyless entry, outside temp gauge, and cross bars on the roof rails.

The other difference is the OBS doesn't come in BRP and the TS doesn't come in STM.

OBS has map lights, TS does not.
I think the OBS has rear drum brakes and the TS has discs, not a big deal since most trucks have rear drums and they tow stuff *nods*

I love cruise control and I wouldn't recommend getting a vehicle w/o one.

nope.. they both have rear drums... RS and WRX are the only ones with rear discs. I wasn't positive on the map lights so I left it off, but I knew the OBS had em.

The OBS is a great deal for what it comes with standard vs the TS, IF you want most of those options (note, keyless entry is not standard for OBS). However, because of the wheel and suspension difference, go ahead and test drive each to see which ride you like best. If you like the OBS best (as you should ), give in to your inner craving and buy it!

Think of the OBS as coming with the "cosmetic" package. Nicer alloy wheels, a nice two-tone paint job (ok, debatable), roof rack with cross-rails, fog lights, rear cargo tray... to name a few.

A downside of the OBS is that handling should be slightly worse than a TS because of a higher center of gravity. Either way, both the TS and OBS have a softer suspension than the RS.

Yep...those are pretty much the differences.

We just added a third Subaru to the family Saturday--a 2002 OBS. Very nice. So nice, that I'm jealous, even with my '01 RS. The car just seems more solid and build quality seems better.

I'd say that the OBS is worth every penny. Although I'd go for the TS and get foglights later. I like the monotone paint scheme and the fact that its available in blue.

You can always add stuff to the TS, but the bottom line is how much you want to spend.

hehe.. blue TS with added fogs -- exactly what I have. got the spoiler, too, and will eventually get rims. sweet looking.

i've heard that the suspension is different between the TS and the OBS, and the OBS looks a *tiny* bit taller (maybe 1/4") than my TS, but I can't imagine the handling is any better.

TS v. OBS comes down to wether or not you care about two tone paint (I don't), 16" rims (I do, but not that much), and cruise (wish I had it). Personally I don't care for the twill seat cloth in the OBS.

Long live the TS!!

I was in the market for a silver TS, then I found out it would be Feb. before I could get one, it doesn't have cruise control, and worst of all it's not a RS wagon. Not a slam, but I was under the impression it was.

I went for a silver OBS 5speed with rear spoiler. I pick it up Monday, they put me in an auto OBS til then.

IMO the two tone paint and the word 'sport' on the side are the only things I don't like about it. That's why I got silver in hopes of lessening the two-toneness of it.

And I've never liked a vehicle that called itself 'sport', "Hey, sport!"

I had a 2000 OBS and this 2002 is really so refined!! You won't regret it--the wheels are awesome and love the cruise control...

AND dark tint is nice if you can get away with it...

By the way, a good body shop can take off that "sport' you don't like and probably not charge all that much...

OBS has taller springs. As noted above, other changes as well. $800.00 difference in price.
Two-tone or monochromatic. Is the flavor of it all. What do ya like.

My TS has leather, tint, 16" rims, fogs. Love it!
