Default OMG!!!1 SKYLINE!!! omg omg omg omg omg omg omg omg

ok someone explain to me why everyone is like "OMG OMG Nissan Skyline!!!!!"
I understand it's a fast car and all but... seriously... is it THAT MUCH BETTER than an STi or an Evo? Or is it just cause it's hard to find in the US...?

OT - please clarify.

Also, if it wasn't the main car in the oscar-winning work-of-art spiritual movie The Fast and The Furious Tokyo Drift it MUST be FTL!

UPDATE: saw one this morning... or just a G35 with Skyline badges?? You tell me...

dependably modifiable to 1,000hp, or so I hear. It's like an SRT-4, but with good fit and finish.

depends. not dependable, no 1000whp motor is.

stock block is good for ~600whp, but at ~500-550whp the tranny starts to go.

always best to upgrade the fuel pump first as well .

Yes it's a great car...

Not really in the same class as the STI and Evo though, its more of a supercar/exotic beater.

Its the Japanese Z06... Sort of a defining muscle car for the inudstry.

Default GT-R, not Skyline

Yes, but the 'Skyline's that everyone gets wet over are the top of the line GT-R trim.

The Skyline itself is a pretty ordinary unremarkable car platform coming in either coupe or sedan platform ranging from ordinary family transport all the way to the supercar level GT-R.

basically substitute every 'Skyline' in this thread with 'GT-R' and what everyone says makes more sense.

I always thought it was cool that they stored telemetry data and you can download it to your laptop. Not to mention the engine is overbuilt so it has a lot of tuning potential. They have made some amazingly fast cars out of those Skylines. But yeah, between an old RHD Skyline and a new LHD car that is comparable performance wise (stock vs. stock), I'd go with the newer LHD car.

A big part of the appeal is the rare factor. Lots of cars can make that much power.

I agree, there are a lot of cars that can make that much power....I have a buddy that daily drives his 845whp fox body....347 stroker with a YSi.

that car was designed so Nissan can enter many races and win it.
Although it's a production car, but it's actually a race car detuned to be a production car.
Plus, it can easily run into the low 12 or high 11 with some basic bolt on mods.
IIRC, it was banned from LeMan for being too fast

Well, I'm sure those GT-R's are way faster than a stupid Audi.

Bah, the 15 year old Skylines are a dime a dozen in Canada now....you can pick up a check base model, whatever it is called, for ~$10 U.S. if you wanted too.

I love it when people talking about things that they do not know about.
