Talking New 06 Baja Turbo

Well I went and got a 06 Baja Turbo on Satuday easy deal, drove off in about 3.5 hours.

I like it alot, wish I would have got the leather, but selection was slim. Is the a grill brush guard/push bar available for this model?

Went in today to have the bed cover installed. During negotations the salesman told me it was the locking hard cover, but the soft cover was installed. In the process of resolving that issue now.

I was able to get my XM installed and running with no problems.

Ok back to my reading of the forum.

Bill

If they installed the soft cover they had to drill holes in your bed. Don't know how they are going to fix that. Do what ever you can to get rid of the soft cover. If you don't you'll wish you did later.
bflowrx had made a few custom light bars in a past post. Contact him to see if there are any more availiable. The ones from Australia were much to expensive to import. Search the group and you'll find the posts.

That I didn't know, hmm Should be an interesting conversation later today.

I didn't see the custom light bar thread, but I have been reading for two days now

Thanks

Got the hard cover issue resolved. I have a new Ozz BrosCover coming in for me instead of the Factory Hard Cover.

Hi, Bill. Nice to have another Baja owner here.
If I may inquire. How much did you pay for the Baja turbo?
Greg.

Hey woettinger.....I test drove both an 06' turbo and 06' sport (both 5 spd MT).....and I am torn, love the turbo but cost of Premium gas, higher maint. costs are a concern......what tipped the scales for you to go turbo ? and also could you give a ballpark of the price....dealer told me $21,000 for the 5 spd MT sport but "has to talk to the manager" on the turbo.....thanks

Woettigner - I just picked up an 06 Baja Sport last Wed - actually we did the deal the Saturday before, but I had to wait as they sent it out to a leather-upholstery place to recover and heat the seats! Cost about $1500 for that, but it was DAMN worth it. That's something you could have done at any time. The upholstery was specifically made for the Baja and fits perfectly, you'd never know it wasn't factory. As another option, I've read where others have put seats in from Legacys.

Cougesube - no question you should be able to get $21k for the 5-speed Sport, since that is Invoice minus Holdback (with no options). I drove and LOVED the Turbo, but honestly, my wife and I already have one supercharged car (Cooper S) and I decided I wanted rock solid reliability (less stressed motor) with better gas mileage AND that I'd probably get too many tickets with the Turbo. I think you'd love either one though, so it's just going to come down to your priorities.

It was 2% under invoice right around 25k for the package. I used the 3.9 for 48 instead of the customer cash. Plus the OzzBro cover coming in.

What kind of mods have you done to it? I found the baja as I was looking for a Ridgeline, don't think I saw one before I went to the lot on Saturday.

<<If they installed the soft cover they had to drill holes in your bed.>>

They don't actually drill holes in the bed, just in the plastic surround on the top of the bed liner. Not that it matters now since you have the Ozz Bros cover, and I'm assuming they left the metal rails from the OEM soft cover on--so really no harm done if they left the rails on. Even if they didn't, there's no exposed metal that's been drilled--just plastic. (I put my soft cover on myself, so I know what's drilled and it's not the metal bed).

They actually drill into the bed itself too, at least for the 4 screws (2 on each side) that holds the hard plastic piece on. Trust me, I just stripped one pulling it out since it was rusted in place. I had to use pliers to get it the rest of the way and now have 4 exposed holes in the metal. Getting a used soft cover from the dealer was the worst thing I could have ever done for my baja, nothing but trouble so far.
