Default flashing car, compass gauge pack

the car symbol started flashing today on my way to work. weird, then it stopped blinking when i got off the highway. i bought this used, but it has been working well ever since, does anyone know if this could mean something or if i need to adjust anything? thanks!

The car flashes when the compass needs to be recalibrated. You are supposed to drive the car in tight circles until it stops . You can also set off the calibration process yourself by holding in one of the buttons for 3-5 seconds... I think it was the "set" or "mode" button.

I'm pretty sure that there is a small section on the compass gauge pack in the owners manual too. If youdon't have a manual there is a link on the Scoobymods.com site to the PDF of the 99 MY manual to download.

FWIW, every once in a while for no apparent reason mine will flash too. I think it may happen when I go over a metal bridge or something like that. Sometimes it sets itself again but others I just drive in a circle a couple of times and it's OK again. Don't forget to set the proper setting to compensate for magnetic North too. The procedure is also in the owners manual.
