did the following today; sti tmic, injen short ram intake, jdm sti uppipe, invidia catless downpipe... had a few issues...

i had a one piece header uppipe, like this one;

and i couldnt get it to fit- the crossmember has less room than a wrx one- also, i think to get this type of header to fit, you have to really get your motor high- jack it up directly, possibly remove motor mounts as well.

since i had the jdm sti uppipe, i just put that on. its catless (my intention behind doing the uppipe), and it fit fine.

the downpipe was another issue- the brace was in the way, and instead of notching the brace or the downpipe, i just removed it- i intend on putting a strut tower brace, so hopefully it compensates for the brace i removed. a non-bellmouth downpipe may have fit... any tips on getting the brace back in there?

i also have a leak between the downpipe and the catback- shouldnt be too difficult to fix.

performance wise, it definitely feels better... the car only seems to make about 11 lbs boost- im going to keep an eye on it w/ my accessport (that i have for my sti, but it'll read boost b/c the baja doesnt have a gauge)...

you should do uppipe as well- the cat may eventually break loose- ive seen it on my friends 04 wrx uppipe- part of the material was coming apart- he replaced the pipe at the right time- otherwise turbo would be destroyed.

uppipe is a little bit of a pain, if you can find someone to do it for 100 bucks or so, its worth it. anything over that ill do it myself.

honestly, if i knew from the start that that header wouldn't fit, it would've taken me less time.

I was just messing around. The JDM sti one and USDM sti are both catless and look identicle. I was joking at the fact he specifically mentioned its JDM, cause we all know JDM makes it waaay more betterer!

However the USDM 2002-2005 WRX (non sti) as well as FXT and all Baja T do have the precat and EGT probe in the uppipe. So switching to an STI or Bosal (same as STi) uppipe eliminates this pre-cat.

well the jdm pipe is the same as the usdm, save for the egt bung. the jdm doesnt have one... no big deal- i mentioned that it was jdm not b/c its cooler, but for completeness of info... ive got a mad leak somewhere in the right header side... the downpipe-catback leak is fixed...

im still debating the brace... apparently, turboxs downpipes, even though they are large fit without removal of brace... other downpipes may be hit or miss... bajasti04 has a perrin catted downpipe.. dont know if he removed the brace to make it fit.

Yeah i was just joking around, nothign aimed at you. USDM sti up pipe also does not have EGT bung.

I am running an Oakos downpipe, It fits perfect with the brace in there but it is not a divoriced or bellmouth. Just catless.

with the catless uppipe and downpipe the cat efficiency below threshold (P0420 I think??) came on after about 250 miles.

I just went into the ecu and turned that particular code off (I had already shut off EGT CELs since i removed the sensor with the uppipe install) No other CEL since.

cool so the oakos downpipe fits... i think im going to make a compendium of what works...

so far:
turboxs
oakos downpipe... the exhaust shop that fixed the leak wanted to cut the brace to make it fit, but i didnt want to do that... im going to try to get my hands on either one above...

on second thought, i got my invidia for 100 bucks, im going to modify it to fit... will report once done.

Pic of the Oakos clearance...

I got the Oakos because i thought it would fit, it was cheap, and they are local to me.

I was very suprised on how well it fit. both flanges and mount to the trans fit perfectly, no tweaking needed. And it cleared the brace.

Well he said Perrin, so if they are the modified stock injectors I think Perrin advertises them at 816cc

That bar looks good on the Baja what kind of mods did you have to do to install the bar?

Who makes that header? I want headers next, but want to get ones that fit and I don't want to order the same one you got if it won't fit.
