What are you asking for the vf-39--how many miles did you have it on?

Keep us posted on the injectors when you get them. My stock ones are maxed out even on a VF39

its a megan racing one. if you can get one that isnt one piece (replacing the uppipe too) then you should be ok. the header looked oh so sexy though.

Thanks! And speaking of headers--what's the difference between equal length headers and I guess ones that are not? I was told not to get equal length because then it sounds too loud, or bad, or something. I can't remember what the guy said but it wasn't good. I'm looking at the Borla's. Does anyone have those on their Baja now? I just want the nice, deep boxer sound.

i put around 8000 miles on the vf39 / sti tmic... i was out to sea for about 8 months of the last 12, and haven't been able to drive her that much. I will def keep you all updated with how the project goes, i put out the feelers yesterday on some of the parts im thinking of getting, the only problem is going to be the fmic install, as far as I can tell.
equal length headers mean that the exhaust coming out of each cylinder flows the same distance of piping before reaching the uppipe/turbo. they have advantages/disadvantages, just like everything else. you'll get better flow, but for the most part, from what I understand, you'll lose low end power and gain top end.

that is true about the headers and it totally going to change your sound...you also really don't need them until the 400whp range

Don't we always want things we don't really need? :-)
I just want to do an entire exhaust but want to enhance the boxer sound. I just don't want to sound like a weed wacker. I'll start with the headers and work my way back whether I need it or not. hehehe

narenji,

What tow hitch do you have?
It seems nicely tucked under there. Some hitches on Baja's that I've seen have hung down lower and stick out from the back of the car. Yours seems about as hidden as it could be.

For those of us who don't know about the VF43 turbos, where do those come from?

i believe its an OEM subaru hitch.. i just removed the ball so that i dont crank my knee on it by mistake. i think my car has the following options: cargo net behind rear seat, bed extender, mud flaps, and trailer hitch...

i believe the vf43 is not as prone to cracks as a vf39... the 07 sti's have been making some crazy numbers on 93 octane (320hp/380tq), but of course not all that power is due to the turbo, there's something going on in the new heads too...

im thinking of going with a bigger turbo w/ a front mount intercooler, but im not sure yet...

I'm more of the off-roader type in my Baja but I have to admit that was one hell of a launch.Impressive.

Damn, I just looked at it again and you're right--it is an S2K and that's even more funny and more impressive. And I was just talking to a friend of mine last night w/an S2K about things I want to do to my Baja. I want what that Baja has, and then I want to embarass my buddy with the Honda. I mean, it wasn't even close!

ok, so I'm pulling the bumper/cover this weekend and measuring for a fmic--then i'm talking to someone who makes custom cores--and were gonna custom fab the piping, going counterclockwise--new turbo/860 injectors/turbo inlet hose on the way-- just cant decide what headers to get now, i'm leaning towards the gruppe-s v2 coated headers. Any opinions/experience on here with diff headers? I really want equal length, just dont want the extra cost, and def dont want to sound ricery, so that's probably a no. After I get these mods done, and then a retune... hopefully I can stop these shenanigans one of these days and be happy with my power... or i forgot, i just got a set of front/rear whiteline sways and samco radiator hoses.

Yeah that's a really awesome video for sure! Very interesting to hear the two. I might be wrong but the REALLY loud obnoxious sound is that of the Miata with a really crappy sounding exaughst system as well as the driver of the miata not knowing how to drag race. If you spend 2-3 seconds burning rubber you're not going to get anywhere fast. lol.

But that was a very sweet video. And it sounds like you've made some fairly entry-level mods. I've not done anything to mine yet. Waiting patiently for my time to come.

I am ordering a Helix RR500 turbo, a little bigger than a 20G, a little smaller than a fpgreen, but they say it says it is good til around 500whp. We will see. I will definitely do a newbie writeup on how SWeeT this turbo/combo is.
