This intercooler can take a lot of power. It is the nicest looking kit out there,imo. I don't care if it's made in china,sudan,u.s.a. All I know is that the intercooler works flawlessly. When my car was tuned and made 373whp on a mustang dyno. The intercooler was cool to the touch and heat soak was nonexistent. My tuner was amazed of how efficient wbr intercooler was.dave; this is one hell of an intercooler.
Actually I'm fairly certain our dyno reads lower than MZM but that's not really important. 390 WHP on a TMIC would be pretty much impossible though. A turbo big enough to make those kinds of numbers would necessitate a FMIC. The reason for this is that a turbo that big moves and incredible amount of air. This causes heat and TMIC + heat = heat soak. This Forester ran a TMIC before it ran a FMIC and it made 22 less WHP with the TMIC than the FMIC. **22HP MORE**
Also, APS doesn't make any turbos bigger than the 30R .82 that will bolt on with the stock TMIC. In any event, I'm sure that Forester was plenty fast and that there is one or several Foresters that are faster than this one somewhere in the world.
Note: I am running the same map as before so a retune would probably help me out greatly.
-Definite increase of intake sound level (not sure if that is due to the CAI or FMIC piping or both)
-Boost is more instantaneous for VF39 (spools quicker than w/ Helix TMIC)
-Seems like the car just keeps pulling and pulling while just getting faster and faster. (Not sure how this has effected my power curve but it doesn't feel like it is diving off as much at the higher power band)
-More, smoother torque at low rpms 1500-2500
-ECU is still learning and I still need some time to fully analyze the response/power.
It just didnít make sense to us why the clockwise flow front mounts chose to pass over the turbo and turbo outlet pipe before entering the throttle body. The whole point of front mounts is to eliminate heat soak.
The WBR500whp fmic was designed to eliminate heat soak, while providing optimum cooling to the intake charge. Once the hot air from the turbo enters the intercooler it never feels heat again, until it explodes in the cylinder.

Sound. This is what is most important to everyone. At idle, I was surprised that it was about as loud as my FAT, which isn't bad. It's still not obnoxious. Driving around is where this axleback shines. It isn't as loud as the FAT or my previous 2.5 TXS axleback. Probably a bit quieter than the WRX Prodrive I had on there. It's nice at highway speeds. I no longer have to turn up the radio to obscene levels to enjoy it. No highway drone whatsoever. It's not as aggressive as the FAT, but aggressive exhausts are for riced out Honda fartboxes anyway. I'm 38. I would like what hearing I have left to last me til I drop dead. This axleback will help.
All in all it is a good alternative to all of the louder 3 inchers out there and is also a bit quieter than the 2.5 Prodrive which is probably the most popular "quiet" exhaust for a Suby.
The price is also better than pretty much any other axleback you can get.

I'm just swinging by to commend Dave on his product.
I ordered a resonated midpipe and 2.5-3" adapter from him late in the evening on a Monday and he shipped it the very next day. Everything arrived in one piece 5 days later, shiny and new.
I installed it today, replacing my Maddad 3->2.5" flex-joint pipe that was not resonated. During the install, I noticed fitment being better than the Maddad unit (which took some coaxing to line up). Obviously the resonated section cuts into ground clearance; I'm at stock ride height and that part of the pipe is the lowest part of my car, riding 6.5" off the ground (stock clearance is 7.9"). I may be able to raise that a little by mixing and matching the right exhaust hangers.
The important thing - my exhaust setup is quieter! That is exactly what I wanted, and the WBR piece delivered. It still screams when mauled properly, but gone is the deep bass growl at lower RPMs that the Maddad gave me. It was cool sometimes, but just not my overall preference considering I do a lot of city driving. The WBR seems to have fixed that, and I can hear that the exhaust note is coming to my ears from further back in the cabin (if that makes sense), making it less intrusive.
I have this running between a catted Helix DP and a Prodrive axleback. For a stage 2 setup, running 3" the majority of its length, I can't imagine it any quieter (except with the STI axleback, but I prefer the note of the Prodrive). I can't wait for the WBR pipe to get some soot built up in there after a few miles, to quiet things down even further.
