Default Kind of scary.. (HKS mega flow intake)

Guys, a quick question really..
I've installed an HKS Mega Flow air filter (the half-sphere one), install was a breeze, OEM fit.
Now, I haven't removed the stock black plastic intake at the front, the one that goes from the grill to the side panel, into a hole in it. Should I remove it? It seems that the HKS filter will just take air from the hole on the side, is it enough?

The reason I'm concerned, is because now I have exact same sound as if I'd have with an aftermarket BOV. When I shift gear, I hear a pretty defined sound of air sucking... Is this normal with HKS intakes? Or is there something else I haven't done?

I had the same thing with my k&n you hear the sucking sound a lot more, and when your bov recerc (I'm assuming you are) you hear it thought the intake. ya, I don't think it was any big deal it seemed to be normal at least for a year on my car. but depending on were you are thinking about going next, and what you want to do next, you may want to go with the aps, or perrin big maf. and that piece in the fender wall I had left it there until I get a fmic, it never caused me any problems. and the k&n has been dyno proven to add 13 whp but it would not support a bigger ish turbo.

well, i don't plan to upgrade turbo or tmic.. The only thing I plan next is the engine management (probably access port once I get money for it)..
So basically all I want to know is whether I've set up my intake corretly, and if the bov-like sound is normal. By the way, my BOV is a stock one (06 STi).

When you say "get rid of the intake" you mean the HKS one, or that black plastic thing? If latter, then will there be enough air for HKS filter?
