Default PDX tune FTL

So I called PDX up and asked them for map of a VF34 ith pinks and a FMIC. They seemed like great guys , but it took them a long time to make my map.

I felt the car was healthy but just lacked what it should. Now keep in mind , I know NOBODY can make a map that is ideal for your car though the mail, but I would hope that they would be better than the base map that came with the ST, if they say that they are the "upgraded" maps.

Well I went down to Dyno4mance in GA ,( dyno4mance.com) and put the map on the rollers.

The cobb base map on the ST without the boost pill , put down 232 on 11lbs.

The Pdx put down with the pill,FMIC ,RA gears, Exedy Stg 1 clutch , put down only 215hp

With some changes to the WGDC and Target Maps as well as some moderate timing , they were able to get 255 hp with a leaking up pipe, on 16lbs .

I plan on fixing the uppipe and trying to get 2 or so more pounds out of it .....hopefully without any Rigging with a , *cough* bleeder tube/spring.

But I am going to send Pdx back their map and show them the difference.

Anyone else running these maps? What do you think?
Most people seem to be happy with them , so that is why I went with them, but ..... wtf?

How do you expect someone to get a mail-order map right when you have a leaking uppipe?

My upipe has nothing to do with the tune, since the upipe didint come into play until 16 lbs or so . Even with the leaky upipe the Cobb base map made more power , without the boost pill. Then I put the pill in and fixed the base map for Cobb , ergo the PDX as well. So both of them had equal mechanical obsticles to overcome , but the Cobb map made more power with less boost. Soooo , if PDX is going to market an 'upgraded' map , then it better make more that the base that they sent me , given everything is the same.
I am going to fix the up pipe. I already said that. I am making dang near 16lbs with the leak anyway with the leak.
AND I already said that I KNOW THAT NOBODY CAN SEND ME A PERFECT MAP THROUGH THE MAIL.
So , given that all things were equal and both maps had the chance to dyno , they should make what they are going to make.

If you are just here to tell me to fix my **** , then please move on , but if you have run the Cobb maps , then switched to the PDX maps , your input is welcome.

You changed so many variables in between tunes and who knows what you told PDX to do with the tune, I'm not sure why you are suprised that the PDX tune didn't make as much power as the Cobb and so quick to say "PDX maps FTL!".

Maybe Cobb's tune was lucky and is running more aggressive wastegate levels than PDX? Did you hit target boost with both tunes? What were the AFRs with both tunes? Were both tunes showing full timing advance? Did you do some datalogging for PDX so they could tweak the tune? Did you tell PDX your uppipe was leaky so they should bump wastegate duty cycles up? Show us some datalogs with all 3 setups and it'll be easy to say why each makes different amounts of power.

With an FMIC, you must be running an intake.

2 questions:
- Was PDX aware of this?
- Have you cleaned your MAF recently?

PDX will usually modify the map if you send them some logs, then email it back to you.

well FWIW we flew PDX up to our little neck of the woods and had them dyno tune about 30 cars in a weekend and I personally can count for about 10 or so that were disapointed with the dyno tune, some even sold their AP and went to open ecu and did self tuning and got better results and apon a baseline run on the same dyno they made better numbers? just a thought!
