i was idling at franklin street in chapel hill, nc when my car just died. it wouldnt even turn over. about 10 minutes beforehand, my cel came on. i thought this was from the m2 turboback i had installed. i hadn't yet moved the o2 behind the cat. but, since m2 said it would be ok infront of the cat, i wasnt too worried. they said that if the cel did come on, it wouldnt disable the car.

well needless to say, i was mentally bitching out m2 for a few days. i had to get the car towed. subaru roadside sent me TWO hitch only towtrucks. no rollback, no dolley, etc...damn idiots. well, the car finally got towed...by the police. then i finally got a rollback to pick it up at the pd and drop it off at subaru.

apparently, my fuel pump died. they said the wiring was bad and when "tapped" the car would start. so, they ordered a new one and i should have the car.im hoping the engine wasnt damaged in the process. until then im driving a 2001 neon. im taking my anger out on it. theres nothing like cold starts and flooring it

Unless its a safety feature, i would assume that your car would still turn over even if the fuel pump didn't work

I love doing neutral drops and also making parking break induced 4 hweel drifts with loaner neons - - take adtvange of fate and have some fun !

Hehe, good one! And all along it was the fuel pump.

M2 is correct, you can leave the o2 sensor dangling on the ground and drive the car, it won't cause the car not to run. Ever.

Rentals are fun but don't COMPLETELY destroy them or you might have to pay for one. I got a Metro rental for a while and I did a couple of nuetral drops and ruined the tranny... It wouldn't go into Neutral, Reverse or Drive. Only Park and 2 and 1 worked. So I couldn't go backwards, even in Neutral pushing it!!! I had to drive 70 miles in it to return it for another and had to keep from going anywhere I couldn't go straight and straight only. You really take neutral and reverse for granted They gave me another and I ripped the ebrake, floored it in the grass at the house and poured 10w30 on the right front tire. It spun and smoked for about 50 seconds! KEWL. I lost a hubcap off that one and those little P155/85R13 tires on it (at least the front) were melted. They didn't say a word about it or the first one they gave me. I was scared I was going to have to buy a Metro though..

Oh and the Sneeky Pete thing is a good idea, but i run a 50 shot on a SP system once in my 3000GT. Well, all I can say is a 100 shot wouldn't last over 2 seconds, maybe 3 in that little bottle.

I had a 2001 Neon for nearly a month and repeatedly did handbrake burnouts. Can't remeber if I could do them on dry pavement, but in the wet it was so much fun The pedal was to the metal on a daily basis.

When I returned the Neon the front tires were all eaten up from the Auto-x style maneuvers on city streets for 4 weeks. I was even planning on racing it an Auto-x but backed out at the last minute do to the shame of showing up in a rental car NEON.

Worst case senario you should flip the tires before returning it. that way you can hide the most obvious signs of abuse
