Thumbs down TurboXS downpipe

Just got off the phone with Turbo-XS...

Their new awesome looking downpipe will be available shortly but unfortunately it will not bolt up to your stock cat-back.

This means that anybody with ANY aftermarket exhaust wont be able to use the Turbo-XS downpipe and midpipe because they have re-located the flanges :-(

So it sounds to me like you have to buy an entire turbo-back system from Turbo-XS in order to use their downpipe which Im not happy about because I have an HKS cat-back on the way.

EDIT: Maybe i'll try to sell my HKS cat back...i haven't even gotten it yet!! lol

Thumbs up

I believe that they set it up so that you could use your stock rear section. Any aftermarket muffler that is just the back section should work fine as well. I for one can't wait to get mine.

I agree. I think any axle back, if you will, exhaust will work will the Turboxs downpipe and midpipe.

It does look awesome.

Majority of the aftermarket exhaust systems WILL not bolt up to stock WRX downpipe.

So If you had the turboXS downpipe, would you need to custom fabricate a 'midpipe' to have it connect up to an aftermarket cat back? How much would a custom midpipe be?

Is the mid-pipe going to have 1 cat in it? I don't want to remove all my cats, just the up and down pipes....

That would be a great idea...and I was thinking that myself. I should ask Turbo-XS

From talking to them there first available system is gonna have 1 cat in the mid-pipe, but they will be coming out with a midpipe with no cats and a CEL eliminator is also in the works for that

What kind of muffler was going to come with the exhaust kit turboxs is putting out? Dare I sound ricey but I like a slightly large single tip, with a nice jdm look. My goal is biggest power, with a look I want, and preferably not spending more than 1300 on the turbo back system. I figured I would maybe put a co-zigen, or hks, or something of that sort of muffler on it.

yeah, hopefully the mid-pipe w/ cat and otherwise will use the same flange as the rear of the stock cat so that everyone can just bolt up whatever cat-back they want. I don't know how the size match would work because I'm assuming the cat back systems have to start out at a 2.25 inch hole then enlarge from there to match the stock exhaust.

This doesn't appear to be a twin tube design.

Mine says Magnaflow on it. And, I guess they just weld up piping to make it to make it fit the stock contour.

I noticed the same thing. Perhaps Mark didn't see much of a gain from downpipes with a separator?? If that is the case then that's good news. That was really the only reason I was going to buy a downpipe apart from having a local exhaust shop custom fab the entire exhaust on my vehicle for a lot less than kits are selling for. No busted knuckles either. Good news indeed...

If I am not mistaken, our boy Nathan is running a downpipe without the "splitter". And he is running well...

the APS down pipe also does not have a seperator

from talking with some one at the turbo-xs booth at sema (forget her name) .. any axel back exaust (that uses stock mounting points) can be mated to the down pipe-midpipe combo

So how much is the downpipe. Are they going to offer a mid-pipe, I'm sure I could get a midpipe fabricated so I could put on a blitz, hks, or 5-zigen can. Mark hasn't gotten back to me.

Ok, new question, what size is the back of the turboxs downpipe? And what size is the back of the stock downpipe?

I`m wondering where the flex hose will be? I thought it would be part of the down-pipe. Is it part of the mid-pipe?

Default o2 eliminator

http://www.extrememotorsports.com/g2cat/turbo.htm If wish we could have a turbo with an O2 eliminator (shown halfway down the page). It's cool. A downpipe for this kind of setup could just be a single tube.
