Default Pros and Cons of the STi RA Spec C Roof Vent

This thread is to argue out the pros, cons, or anything else to be said about the Subaru WRX STi RA Spec C Roof Vent. or or this is where your opinion counts.

IMO the scoop rocks in all aspects except you shouldn't open it in the rain. that might be bad

I might be biased, but whats the point? So you can cool yourself? In reality, all i see is that dropping the value of the car. But thats my opinion and you asked for it.
I think the kit looks clean when installed properly, but whats the function?

To properly recirculate fresh air in the car without allowing dirt to flow in. (Rallying)

I'd install a sunroof before a roof scoop. Tho It might make a good camera mount.

Default Roof Scoop

It might not make the best sense in AK, but from what I've gathered it brings air in the car better than a sunroof, and doesn't add weight or compromise the strength of the roof like a sunroof.

If you don't plan to be in AK forever, or want something different, go for it.

I just think its so pointless to ruin a perfectly good roof with a ugly little piece of plastic. It reminds me of the little hatches on top of motorhomes.

I could see if someone shot like 4 holes in the confined area beforehand and you are trying to decide what to do with the hole... At that point i would still choose a sunroof though.

But hey, my sunroof weighed down my car so much they had to put in two turbos, wtf do i know.

sorry, I'm in a bad mood today. I know I'm an 4SS.

They gave you two turbos with your sun roof?... those bastards at Acura need to get with those Audi cats... I got Vtec with my sun roof...

2 turbos > vtec

I feel ripped.

PS: I Agree with the above.

I thought its real use was for those rally cars without A/C... so other then using it for an A/C I only see it being "cool" as point to get it lol

Maybe it's because you can't sell the audi.

I agree the roof vent has it's limits as far as practicality, but it's no worse than a sunroof in some ways. It wouldn't get in the way of a helmet inside the car, but would catch the birds that avoided the hood scoop.

People install aftermarket crap of all sorts. Aside from being more permanent(which I understand is big), it isn't worse than much of the plasticy crap thrown on cars. (body kits, carbon fibre this or that.) All mods come with some degree of personal preference.

umm...i doubt it would invite any more insects into your car than, say rolling down your window. Besides, you can close it. I like it. It's an OEM part, with OEM fit and finish (a nice little inside bezel, etc) that you can open or close as you please. And how much function does, say, an STi wing have below 100mph? And above that, it just makes noise anyway. The roof scoop actually can be functional, unlike the stock STi wing.

no sunroof, and the roof rails are as wide as your rain drains. Besides, I'm gonna go railless when I get in the lower 48. I'm seriously considering it

I'm sure there's SOME way it could fit...I dunno if I would like to see it though, lol. The STi wagon in JDM-land had just the normal WRX spoiler. Maybe the waist spoiler too? Oh wait, it's like $500, nevermind.

I plan on removing the A/C and installing the roof vent in the next few months. I rode in a wrx with a roof vent this past august for an hour on the highway without a/c. It was around 90 out sunny. I was perfectly comfortable.

Lmao, seriously We are in Alaska, today is a good example of why we don't need A/C. Maybe if you were going for the complete 100% rally look and down in a warmer state, I could see it happening. I'm with Erick on this one, I don't see the point of cutting a hole in your roof just for a cosmetic mod.
