Default 2006 Tranny Rebuild

Ok, So i've read most of the topics about ra gears and ppg gears. My 06 broke the tranny on the dyno, put down around 380+awhp on 21psi on a conservative tune. We haven't tuned for meth yet so I need new internals that will hold this power. Has anyone upgraded gears in the 06 trannies? I was told that I can't get ra gears for mine for some reason. I would like some opinions on what setup they would go for my tranny. Keep in mind im trying to keep this under 5k and this is my daily driver which is currently down so Im trying to figure out what I need so I can get it fixed asap. We haven't opened it up so we're not sure what happened. Just wanted to get some recommendations for setups, where to buy from, and how much., Thanks Guys.

Also, I wasn't there when it broke, MZM called me right after. Apparently Mohammad wasn't even doing a pull he was just accelerating in 3rd gear and as soon as he hit peak boost... boom. Im on a budget so im looking to get the best deal without this happening shortly down the road again.

Send it to andrewtech.... I just got mine done there.

3200 + install for 1-4 straight cut PPG gears.

I fried my 3rd gear the exact same way, just on the street instead of the dyno. And im pushing around 400whp.

Sadly, 2006 go boom stories are becoming all the rage these days. I'm gonna have to go ahead and say I predicted it when I first heard about the 3.70 final drive.

hmmmm

I'm thinking going past a VF-39 is gonna cost a bit more than just the turbo and tune...

5k for gears or a 6 sp swap....

I think they just need to ditch the 5-speed altogether and drop "cheaper" non-DCCD 6-speeds into WRX's, Foresters, and Legacy's (already in the Spec B) from the factory. With the new for 2007 gearing, the 6-speed should be perfect.

You better have Andrewtech build you a box. Unless MZM has done a 5MT before, don't let them practice on your box.

MZM will be doing the rebuild. I will going with an ra gearset. I was thinking about doing a ppg but my friend is running the aps ra gearset on his ported sr56/ported heads/jdm ecu 9k redline beast convinced me not to. He's had this setup for over a year with not a single problem, and he is not nice to his car by any means .

Found out today that ra gears will not work in the 06 trannies. Found out from RallySpec.

So... Im going to go with the 6spd setup. Ppg gearing was an option but for that kind of money why not spend another 1k and get a 6spd that will hold. Needless to say the new setup should be in my car by the end of the week.

Yeah, I haven't had much experience with them, but I do know that the APS gearset is bad ass. My friend got one of the last sets back then.

Just get PPG gears... They are proven. NOBODY has broken them.
