Seriously I don't mean to sound harsh but you need to read the manual. I know you didn't buy your Hydra via Element Tuning but you are welcome to read our tuning guides.
By selecting "Decrypt File" you've wiped out your Hydra completely. You will now need to unlock your box and get the original map file that was originally downloaded to your Hydra via Andrew. |

That is usually what happens when you are using a USB-Serial adaptor and its a high speed version. Try to find a low speed adaptor for a Palm Pilot etc. I've heard the Belkin works well. If you do a search brands that work well have been listed.

"Note: Do not use USB to serial interface on laptop computers as this may cause PC to ECU connection problems." With that said 90% of my customers use a USB to serial adaptor but from my experience some work and others do not. You can try to slow the speed down but maybe others can chime in on what USB adaptor they use works. The one I use is a no-name brand. |

I've been using an IO Gear brand adapter with my Hydra all along, and I've never had a problem with the Hydra not storing a map.
You might want to try a different laptop just to try and narrow things down. |

Just to put in some input here, I can only upload and view information, not download with my adapter on my laptop. However I tried the same cable on my sisters laptop, both Vaio's different models but bought like months apart, and hers works no problems, downloads and everything. I couldn't use the one we used at PDXTuning either on my laptop i had to use Jarrads laptop.
I have my usual theory as to why mine sucks, yep you guessed it, too much porn. Ben |

It might be something simple like your default COM settings in your laptop. Try and compare your settings to those of your sister's.

I use a I/O gear I just slowed my adapter down in the device manager to 9600 and it worked fine. that will also give you the com number so you can verify that.

I've never had to slow my IO Gear adapter down in the device manager for any application (Hydra, UTEC, old DeltaDash cable, LM-1, LC-1, Xede, AEM, etc...)

Have tried nth laptops and nth cables.... don't ask.
its hit and miss every laptop will have its own drivers, arch, blah blah. if its usb and serial its most likely the cable. |
