Default what does the subaru world want? Show or go? trailer queen or not?

I believe that the repetitous Show Scene in the U.S. will hit its peak just before the release of the Skyline is made... you can only go to so many HIN events, and so many TBAD's before you realize that the cars really serve no purpose other than to look good.

I want to know what people want, so I've put in this poll in for the heck of it, along with my car pics just to find out what the reading public wants to see in the near future from modified suby's...

all show, with little go, or if it has go, will they ever use it?

Keep it stock, and avoid tampering with warranty or legal issues?

Stock form with little mods?

Balance in power and clean looks?

JDM modifications need only apply?

Run the 11 second 1/4 mile, top 3 auto-x, but drive it home afterwards? - brewpub's 06 sti - clean and plenty of power -

All go, keep it on the track?

all images from Car Domain - Hot Import Nights Seattle 2006.

... my ride...

before the accident...

after the accident

current progress after repairs - back to where it almost was 7 months ago.

And lastly, What it will look like in March... except black, with gold RG-II's..

... my basic lecture is simple... I just want to see purpose behind the hundreds of modified cars out on the street today - Building a 500 horsepower monster is great, but without purpose or reason ... other than 'i have the money,' is there an objective being placed on the project car? Is it just bragging rights, or is it an improper placement of egotistical matter?

I have no biased opinione either way - I find it humorous when I ask people 'why did you modify your car the way you did?'... usually, they really have no answer.. They leave a 'I'm all about going faster than the other guy on the street'... or 'I want to impress the ladies'... but really, is that the fundamental basis for the modification addiction? To be famous from the reputation a car creates for us???

Honestly, I believe in balance for all modifications to MY car - I can only speak for myself, because I dont own other people's cars... but with every exponential increase in horsepower, I see to it that all other aspects are covered at the same time. I love circuit racing, and I love meetin new people - If my car enables me to meet more people, then so-be-it.. hopefully they share the same passion I have for Subaru performance, and maybe we could sit down, have a chat, and talk about future mods with each other... maybe even help one another out...

... ah, random thoughts in iraq - really its all for the fun of the sport, but ay, it never hurts to support nasioc with another thread with plenty of pictures does it?

I'm all for balance, but think it really depends on the owner. If the car is purely bought with the intention of autox-ing, road racing etc...then it makes 0 sense to bling it out or do anything that will aesthetically enhance the car. On the other hand, if the car is meant to be driven on the street, I say there should be a good balance between show and go. You can't always be ripping it down the street or through a set of twisties, so thats IMO when it pays to look good, sound good. I.e You get just a good a feeling by driving it by a crowd of gawking onlookers as you would taking it up your favorite back road. Personally, however, I wouldn't want a car that was too fancy looking if it didn't have the power to back it up. If i had to choose, I'd rather have a 100% sleeper than a 100% show car.

Is this the right place for this thread? Anyway, there will always be show cars, and there will always be people who are into those cars. I personally have so much more respect for a car that is driven on the track (whichever track), and looks good too. Cobb's time attack car is awesome to look at, and has performance to back it up, that is awesome to me. Turbotrix's Evos are sick, and run great times at the dragstrip, etc., etc. I am not sure who you are asking this for, but if you build your car how you want it, that is all that should matter, that is how the scene remains diverse... This is also why I didn't participate in your poll.

All i gotta say is that there are a ****load of hardparkers out there haha. Thats their choice, thats cool. But personally I bought my car to be driven. So Good balanced performance and daily street functionality for me.

I've always gotten the feeling from Subaru that it's a "go" company, not a "show" company, and that's my position on it.

However, I do believe they're falling behind in some performance areas. Nowdays every average sport-sedan runs a mid 13-second ¼, and handles pretty damn close to a GT-car even being 4,000 lbs. I don't think it's too much to ask that Subaru kick it up a notch. I want to see these numbers from the '08 STi...

0-60: 4.1
¼-Mi: 12.8
60-0: 105
Lat g: .93
Slalom: 69 mph
Top Speed: 175

Get in the game or go home.

Where is the **** a warranty all out utility with go mods section?

Maybe this only applies to places like AK.

I like to keep a clean car when the elements present the opertunity. But the ability to do some of anything is where I'm at.

Oh me too, I just think that 70+mph in the slalom is sports-car (lightweight) speed, like the Elise, which is a bit much to ask for in a GT-car.

Kory I say balance. Who says you cant build a car that will perform well and at the same time look good. No mod is the ultimate so you just have to plan your mods well so that you can keep your car as close to the median as you can. Thats the plan i had in mind for my car. Its still slow but its my commuter car 42,000 on it.

that would be tight. some custom one off designs would be a bit different around here... I'm currently working on a design to custom fabricate wide body kit wheel well protectors out of either galvanized steel sheets, or aluminum sheets... Thats something right? haha...

lol... my partner's car is quitting from the carshow scene and is going back to the bodyshop to be reinforced, and going to be tuned... you'll see this car attending the player's run once it's done... and this past year, this car never been inside the trailer except when the car went to Calgary, CA for carshow.

3-years straight HIN best of show, and driven on the street... I never seen a driven BOS in the NW before. lol

I havent seen that car driven on the street - And honestly, if it was mine, I would dread every time I drove the car out into public... the Blue Supra is so well known around the scene as far as a fan base goes, even a stock one gets attacked by every single honda out there...

I saw a R34 skyline off down in WA state last year... as it went down the street DURING NIGHTTIME... around 20 cars followed behind it just to get pics with their camera phones, others trying to race him... we reached a local stretch on the highway and he LEFT everyone in his dust... I'm sure you know who I'm talking about STi-JDM.. there's only a couple people in the NW with skylines...

.... dude, your car is sick, and having to watch you show the judge around your immaculately detailed ride with a flashlight was something I wish could of been changed... more lighting anyone?

If you look on the car and driver page, even THEY were saying it was too freakin dark in the Quest Event Center...

At any rate, your car and Dave's ride looked sickm along with a the other rides that were in your booth - all those R32's made me drool ... I wish I had the time and money to get a R34... - no doubt about it...But having a 30-40 inch LCD in a WRX wagon?... I really dont understand the logic in that - but to each his own...
