Default Rota SubZero's..

There was plenty of interest in this wheel, so I figured I'd restart the thread. I am leaning towards the 17" Silvers for my WRX but I haven't had any luck finding pictures of them installed on a "street" WRX ... even the Racing Harts (which these are knock off's of). Finally, it seems like the 17's have been available for a little while... anyone have any comments on durability and build?

The pics aren't very good...but the car looks awesome in person! They are really sweet.

Man, I have to day that's one of the nicest looking Blue WRXes I've ever seen.

I see a pretty sweet white one that shows up at Tower Shops. At first, I thought it was a Daewoo though.

I bought the Rota wheels last night to have another set of wheels for slicks. I guess if they're good enough for the USTCC WRX, they're good enough for me.

I'll give a report on their quality and shipping, etc. when I receive them.

Hey TBreu007, why didn't you wait for the one's with the 48+ offset to come out?

That's what I ordered.
I hope that's what they will ship

Ant, do you know when the +48's are supposed to be in? They're checking to see if I can get the +48's by December's track event.

Rota said that they will be out by the end of Nov (Nov.28 I believe).

BTW, which track event? I thought the next one wasn't until next year...

Boy, this one has gotten off topic

There's a SAFE Motorsports event at Sebring Dec. 8.
When I get the info. in the mail, I'll bring it to T.S.

Well, I'd help you, but i've got a BRP RS Coupe with white SubZeros!

Anywayz, as for a "street" WRX with silver subzeros, just mentally photochop Gary Sheehans (sp?) car without all of its stickers and valances and stuff!

I really don't care about color so much. It was hard to imagine what it looked like without the ground effects... so if you have any pic - post away!

As far as offset, aren't the 17's available in +48 now and the 18's in Nov.?

I talked to Rota, and they told me that the 17" with a 48 offset has yet to be released...

What did you think of the RH's?

Wrong, there was just a groupbuy from Revolution Motorsports on them... 17x7.5 in a 48+ offset. Ask Penphoe, that's whats on his car !

BTW, I'd get 18's on a WRX... to uhh fill up the wheel well

I don't know if these are different than the Revolutions, but they won't be available until the END of the month in +48. I don't know if I'll have them for Sebring Dec. 8. Cutting it close.

It's a good price, so I'm still getting them though. I have many more track days planned, so I guess I don't have to have them for this one.

Just keep that in mind if you want rims now.

Unhappy

Yeah, I waited a long time for my wheels to come in -- not just me, but everyone who was in on the original group buy. Order went in around August, didn't get fulfilled until the end of October! Well, at least here in Vancouver, we get "liquid sunshine" so I can run around with my Subzeros for a week!

I'll post a wide-angle pic of my car with the wheels on later tonite -- still waiting for my friend to send me the pics. Need a digicam of my own!

Brad, I have the silver Rota Subzero wheels from the Revolutions Motorports Groupbuy. I am sure they are exactly the same as what Gary is referring to. The boxes say "Rota Subzero" 17X7.5 +48 offset. I can't imagine they would make one version for Revolutions and another version for Gary.... asside from a different size or something. I am VERY pleased with the look of them. I was tickled to death when I opened the box. They are not perfect. 1 or two small imperfections on one rim. Just a little tiny spec in the clearcoat. However, I saved $1,500 over a set of Volks so I can accept that. Nothing you'd see unless you had your eye a couples inches away like I did...

The pics on the Rev. Motorsports groupbuy thread really don't do them justice. Gary's pics show them better. The centers are painted silver with clearcoat. The lips are polished with a clearcoat finish. Real clean look. I have silver rims with polished lips on my mustang so I am kinda partial to that look. I think it's clean with just a little flash to it. I actually was planning to get the lips polished when I got them but was pleasantly surprised that they already were. No pics yet as I am trying to convince my wife that S0-3 Pole Positions are required by the manufacturer...

I'm really glad I bought these wheels and kept about $1,500 in my pocket... that's money for coilovers... Definitely worth checking out.

I don't know what you guys got then...I called Rota myself...

Hmmmm, somethings fishy...

I'm gonna call again.

BTW, do you guys have a serial number for any of those wheels; or product number. Maybe that will help me get to the bottom of this easier.

Thumbs up

I think they produce individual wheel styles in "batches" so maybe what the people at Rota meant to say is they won't have any more +48mm offset SubZeros AVAILABLE until the end of Nov.? Just a guess.

Not sure who you talked to at "rota" but Cosmic Wheels is the US importer for Rota and according to emails i got from them. The 48+ are here and have been here for awhile. I don't know who is getting them but someone is.

Yepper, mine were drop-shipped from Cosmic... says "Rota" all over the box. Not sure someone would try to a do a knockoff of a knockoff. If so, then they would be called Millie Vanilly(sp) wheels.

Lightbulb Gary Sheehan's Subzeros vs. mine...

I think that the only difference between the two wheels is basically the offset. Gary got his wheels from Serious Autos which is one of his sponsors. They're mainly a Miata shop, hence the "incorrect" 45mm offset. Then again, Gary has a WRX with the fender flares, so another 3mm outwards isn't really gonna affect him that much.

Anywayz, Rota is now making 48mm offset wheels for the Subarus, so I wouldn't be surprised if Serious Autos will soon be carrying them as well.
