Default So, who didnt get a PS3 reserve and is camping out?

Any tri-staters going for the full 24 hour camp out in hopes of nabbing one? They are already shooting to $2000 for the presale, and when the systems do finally come out they are estimating an average of $3000 or more. I wouldn't be surprised to see $5,000 sales around Christmas time when people get desperate.

I managed to get 3 on pre order day but I might be keeping them/giving as presents.

Wii's are in limited amounts also, but nowhere near the ridiculous low numbers of PS3's USA is getting. Wii's are about 20-30 per store average, where as the average of PS3's is 8-9. (some getting 16, 8, 5 or even 4, with two going to employees right away)

For the unlucky who didn't reserve a Wii, Toys'R'Us is opening a reserve on the 29th so get your ass down there. People will be camping there also. There will be no more PS3 reserves though, not until after Christmas.

eh screw it, i'll get my hands on one. i remember when the gamecube and xbox first came out, i went to toys r us and they had plenty of consoles on the shelves the week they came out, never reserved either system, i even had a color choice for the gamecube, so im not too worried about it.

Will be very different this time around for the PS3. You will not get one unless you eBay or fight outside for it on the 17th with 100 other people at non reserve stores. (WalMart, BestBuy etc.)

Not sure about the Wii, you might get lucky with that as it doesn't sell here like it does in Japan. However, every presale did sell quickly, and same thing will happen at ToysRUs. I don't know when their next shipments are.

I can buy a CAR for the amount of money it will cost to play a VIDEO GAME SIMULATION of racing cars on PS3.

Is it just a matter of being able to say, "Look at what I just blew all my money on! And you don't have one!", is why people camp out for this crap?

Gosh, America is full of spoiled rotten people- adults AND children.
Truly pathetic how materialistic this country has become in the past 10 years.

I waited about 12 hours for the xbox 360 camping in a line at walmart. You think ps3 will need the 24 hour wait or same 12-15 hour wait? Me and my girl plan on camping again for the ps3. I had fun, had nice chairs, dvd player, laptop, psp, etc. to keep us entertained. Some other guys actually just took chairs from walmart, used them, when we got our 360's, they just put the chairs back. It was hilarious. Anyone want to camp together? I have a friend that can find out which walmart is getting the most systems.

With only 400,000 coming on launch to the US, you aren't getting one. The 360 had even more at launch and the line was full by 3pm and they were being released at midnight. I'm expecting worse. The good thing is that at walmart, we got to wait inside, not outside in the freezing cold like some people did at best buy. Best buy didn't do a midnight release, walmart did.

But like I said, if we can get a bunch of people to wait in line, the more fun it will be. We could play poker, board games, etc. I can talk to the employees working that day to see if I can bring a small tv and game system to play. Lots of fun and time flies!

Hell with the PS3 you are mostly paying for the Blue-Ray drive and no one knows if that is going to be the new standard. I'll wait ill the price goes down and when the market is flooded with them in about 6-8 months. Any ways I like my Xbox 360 and most of the games are going to be dual platformed, plus PS doesn't have their online play worked out yet so more than likely it is going to flop.

I plan on waiting outside (as I've done with other tickets and such) so I plan on tailgating and selling burgers/dogs for like $3.00 a pop. Helps me pay for whatever I'm gonna buy

But esriously, is it oging to be THAT bad?

And will the little hole-inthe-wall gamestops have em? I'd rather wait there.

Yes, but they are only getting enough to cover some preorders.. i've talked to a bunch saying they don't even take preorders (they're getting like 3 systems). Other stores said they sold out 16 preorders and only about 5 are getting them. And they won't have any others to sell. That's why best buy or walmart or target are best because they get the most. I had my friend look up in the comp what walmart was getting the most of the premium 360's and found one an hour away and camped there. I plan to do the same with this

I have them both pre-ordered. Since nobody bought all of my games and consoles, I took them back to GameStop and have $700 credit, a good chunk towards the new consoles. I will still probably wait at the Walmart here for a few others, the one here is 24 hours, so I would just have to wait in line... Was anyone at the Halo 2 Midnight Madness in Times Square, I was there for that, awesome!

lol

i admit ps3 is going to be a good system, but no way in hell i would camp out to buy one. never have, never will.. and besides... usually the first generation of new consoles always break and it takes more time and revisions to get it right

The only way I would even bother to waste my time or money doing this would be for a profit. Even then can't really justify my agravation of dealing with people in a line.

I know one member on here (sorry Tim forget u'r member name) that happened to be walking by a circuit city when one of these gaming systems were released and the line was starting. He figured "ehh nothing better to do". Sold it the next day for like a 300-400% profit.

Can't believe what ppl will pay for these stupid gaming systems just to be the 1st person on the block to have it. I mean just wait 3-6 months and every store will have have them for $280.

The retail price for the premium ps3 is $600

I heard that microsoft was thinking of dropping the price of 360 the day that ps3 comes out, and releasing halo 3 within that timeframe also...

Yes, you will most likely need to be there a full 24 hours in advance. At least in NY that is. No walmart will get more then any other walmart, them and BestBuy are set to get 20 systems each. The problem is, Sony is not being clear about the shipments and I know damn well they wont meet the demand of the full 20 per store. They might not even meet the demand for those who RESERVED at Gamestops and other reserve stores. This is why you want to be one of the first 5 people or so, either reserved or not. This way you are pretty much guaranteed a system.

Just a heads up, if you go to the Palisades Mall in West Nyack NY, you can go inside 24 hours a day. This way you can wait in front of the Best Buy in a nice warm location.
