Default 2.5RS with water meth injection ?

There doesn't seem to be a thread about this yet...

So just out of curiosity what if one was to add water/alcohol injection to a 2.5RS and retune the ECU to take advantage of the kits benefits, what then?

A few months ago I-Speed began offering a reflash/dyno service for the 2.5RS motor. Retuning the ECU map for regular 87 octane gave a bump of 10hp / 10 LB/FT. A few months later they retuned for 91 octane with a catless exhaust and 20HP / 20 LBFT was realized. It was noted by Bill (the tuner) that most of the power was found in advancing the timing. So by installing the injection kit which would lower engine temps and increase the perceived octane rating one would be able to tune more aggressively even run higher compression pistons, advance timing even further, etc.

I'm not looking for numbers I'm just curious if this sounds like a logical idea. I know it's not going to set any HP records just wondering what could be gained from such a setup. Vendors, any feedback?

cheers

garrett

It will get you near the same gains that you would see using c16 on your car, but there is only so much timing you can push with the 2.5...you could definitely run higher comp and much more timing but I am not sure the overall investment would be totally worth it. If you are interested in a kit let me know and I will give you at a huge discount to try it out..

Hopefully its a chocolate chip cookie as they are my favorite. I know witht he snow kits I have sold some to the type R's that run crazy high compression and it yields some pretty good results but I don't know anyone with a 2.5rs running a kit so if you want to try it out let me know...

That would be very interesting. Do you happen to know what the Type R kids were running compression wise? I'm think 12.5:1 would be the most one could go.

cheers

I will have to ask them what exactly they are running...
