Talking Chicago Mudflap party.

Okay, we all know a Rally X is going down soon, so time to finally get some mudflaps installed. Since Im probably not the only one who is going to have to do this, how about a party of some sort?
Pick up your favorite flap material (ala pepboys, or whatever) and show up. We'll all figure out how to do it together. Sunday afternoon sound good?

I can get the STI pattern... its on the ravenblade site. Think you need a 16"x12" and a 12"x12" chunk of material to make it work. Im gonna try home depot to see if I can find some heavy rubber stuff for ghetto style flaps.

Anyone with a garage want to volunteer to host? Im only in a apt.

looks to be that way, i know midwaydude is right by me, so he wont have to far to go, i have to find some kind of material before sunday (home depot, here i come!) and just go from there. If we need mounting hardware there's hardware store not 4 blocks away (Ron and Marty's Hardware)

Sunday the 11th i assume, hows 1:00 for everyone? Earlier, later?

Im at 3059 Springdale
Glenview, Il 60025

near the corner of greenwood and glenview road.

If one of you says you have the STi mudflaps I'm going to hunt down your car and steal them and then beat you up for paying such a ridiculous sum of money for mudflaps . I have some that I'm installing tonight, I'm debating whether to carve them up a little bit more to match the STi ones and paint STi on them. I need to find an STi stencil though, I think the intercooler screen tutorial had one...

my house looks like this:

only without the black car in the driveway

i dunno about material, but something strong, yet easy to cut, that doesnt flap to much so its actually effective.

I may swing by to supervise sometime if it's late enough (ie: I don't have to wake up damn early). However, knowing you guys, it'll take ya all day anyways.

I'm gonna try and make it up to Mark's house on Sunday and I'll bring the HDPE sheets I've got; should be enough for a couple sets of flaps.

I'll swing by HD on my way home from work and see if there's anything decent.

Couple of flap leads...
Home depot was a bust.
Target had this heavy rubberish suv runner by the car mats (made by Car and driver) enough for the flaps, carpet stuff strips off.
Target also had very large rubbermaid sort of containers. Would be okay like ldpe flaps, comes in a variety of colors.

Of course pep boys has the large 12x18 truck flaps that can be cut up as well.

i picked up some big-azz truck mudflaps at pepboys for 30 bucks. this way, no cutting, just drill holes and mount. I'm just not clear on what mounting hardware i will need
i was debating on getting the yosemitie sam "back off" flaps, which looked damn cool and quite intimidating for my competetors, either that or "4x4" but those were puny...

I have the STI style patterns printed out and transferred to cardboard full size for everyone to use. I also printed the instructions from the ravensblade site.

Those are the mudflaps I bought since I'm entirely too lazy to do it myself Go to the last post for some pics of them on my car.

Dude,
Like nobody showed up! Me and Mark made out STi style flaps..... found out you really do need that steel brace in the rear for the gc8 pattern. Fronts are on though and look nice. no pics though. Half the battle was chasing down hardware. Home depot has #10 speed clips (clip nuts) #10 machine bolts, and #10 fender washers. to mount the front you need 4 clips, 4 bolts and four washers, plus 2 wood/metal type screws. Rears need 4 clips, etc plus some other stuff to be determined. The cut-up truck flaps look nice.

yeah! now i've got 22 cans of soda left that i have to finish myself! thanks guys!

the mudflap "party" went down ok, it was a challenge to find the right mounting hardware, and it got dark at like 4:45, and really freakin cold.
