SOA, Thats weird for a dealership to say that. Dealerships will get paid on warranty time. so i dont know they would say that. Someone actually said to their face "we're not going to warranty that because you have not spent any money here?"

yeah just call Subaru customer service. no dealership has the right to deny valid warranty or campaign work to someone because they have never done business there before.

It's not that they didn't spend any money *there*, it's most likely that there is no service history on the vehicle. Subaru has a right to deny warranty coverage if a vehicle is not properly maintained. If the customer can't come up with even a few oil change receipts (or receipts for filters, etc. if they do it themselves) it can be reasonably stated that improper maintenence (ie: coolant flushes) could have led to the failure. I've seen it happen, and I've seen receipts save someone's hide as well .

You are correct Brian and I guess we may not have the full story or a completely accurate one. In the service department I work in, I have also had to inform customers of needing records to prove the car has been serviced. Pretty much everyone could.

They have all THEIR receipts?

From the work you havent had done there?

You work at a dealership. You havent spent any money there. They HAVE done work to your car because they have the receipts. You dont know the number to SOA even though you work at a dealership. Superman is doing your laundry.

Very interesting thread....

people get receipts when getting service work done at other locations which is all the proof needed to show the car has been maintained. Even if the work was not done at a Subaru facility.

cx - it's not his car, it's his neighbors' car. Thus, they (the neighbors) have all their receipts.
