Default Help with the Hydra...

Well were to start.. Its gonna be a long one so here goes.

I have had my hydra for about a month and the car ran wonderful with the base map Phil gave me. Clark Tunner was in the area so I set up an road tune. Everything was going good car was running strong making good power and then We get a flash on the laptop (Hydra screen) comport connection/communication failed so we pulled over and stopped and the the car died. And refused to start it was just dumping raw fuel and not sparking off. We let it sit for a while and then try loading the base map back and it still wont start ie: more raw fuel and a lot of it. So we tow my car to a buddies house and I have to rent a car to get back home (4hr drive with a pissed off GF) I get home just in time to go to work the next morning. I went to pick up my car today (4 days later) with a truck and trailer. I try to start it again, loading the base map back in. It starts kind of.. no idle more raw fuel out of the exhaust and I get error codes on the maps screen of the Hydra 30001 and something to the tune of error. So I kick my car and load it up on the Uhaul trailer with a come along and then get a flat tire on the trailer about an hour in to the drive. If it wasnt for bad luck I would have no luck at all .

Any ideas? I called phil when it wouldnt start today but he was gone already after 6 his time. I am sure he can shed some light on this. But I just got it back together and would like to enjoy it.

sorry to hear my friend, have you done anything lately that may have caused this, I changed my battery and accidently touched my I/C pipes when reconnecting the positive terminal with a wrench(sparks a flying) and didn't have any negative effects till 2weeks later when the temps dropped.

Dustin,

When you have a major connection issue such as when your laptop battery is running out while tuning immediately save your map and pull the connection. Do not turn off the car or attempt a download! Instead keep it running and get your laptop charged or plugged into a wall socket, upload your map from the Hydra and then download.

All that is likely needed is the original unlocked version of your map which contains all the data to rewrite the files that are likely corrupted. The version of the map you have likely has the outputs and triggers locked to prevent accidental mistakes but is why downloading your map hasn't helped.

I'm actually heading to SEMA today but email me the last three digits of the serial number and the dealer you purchased your unit from. I will have the orginal unlocked map with me and when I have internet other than my PDA I will email this map. First download the original map to rewrite everything. Once you do that you can upload and use the "import" feature (while offline) to copy over what Clark has tuned for you.

Thanks,
Phil

The laptop was nowhere near dead. So that was not it.. Corruption is likely.. I just dont know why...

The exact chain of events:

Tuned car.. Was running 9 to 1 on boost.. Then 11 to 1. Boost was falling off hard because the boost limiter in the turbosmart controller. We fixed that. Car ran great. Adjusted one fuel cell up and got a box that said there was an error communicating. We pulled over. The car idled. I tried again.. No dice.. Same error box. Key off, key on. Car never started again. We reloaded the map I made and the original you sent Dustin. Hydra held injectors open wide on cranking. So much so that when we pulled the injector clips off the car started!! LOL.. It actualy ran with no injectors hooked up.

Puzzled as to why this happend. I have tuned many Hydras. Some have had issues. They tend to be a bit buggy. But nothing like this. The only difference is that I normaly use my laptop for tuning and this time I used Dustins because he had a the latest version of the software.

Hope its something simple. I hope it was not something I did. I was just raising a fuel value when I got the error. I did not charge Dustin for my services.

One thing I forgot to add. When the car died the first time on the side of the road After things have cooled down I notice the fans are running. hmmmmm. I have no idea what that means and again when I went back with the truck and trailer after sitting for 4 days turn the keys on power and everything up bam the fans are running again with a stone cold motor less than 20c coolant temp on my defi. I dont know what this has to do with anything but it has never done it before. thoughts??

Honestly not sure what caused error but from what you are describing the map is corrupted and the output and triggers are likely incorrect. I have your email but I'm still on my pda. As soon as I can I will email you the unlocked map. You can then use the import feature to copy over clarks tuning.
