Since I don't have any. Never.

I use the Mazda mostly, so that's what will see snow, if we get any.

Well first my winter wheels have to show up (monday) then maybe sometime early November. - Stuck with deciding on tires... I swore against the pZero Neros M+S so maybe I'm trying the Toyo Proxes 4 this year.

^ I'm gonna try the Kumho A/S cause I'm a cheap bastard! It's gonna be my first winter with the STI, can't wait for snow!

Hey don't want to jack but anyone know of a good shop that can switch out my summer ones and put on my A/Ss for a decent price, that I can trust... Mach V is pretty close by aren't they?

Mach V sells parts; Ultimate is the one that does wheel/tire swaps. Mach V is good. Ultimate charges $texas for wheel/tire swaps. They wanted, no ****, $210 to take a set of tires off one set of wheels, and put another set of tires on in their place.

For my Miata, Costco is doing the same thing for me for $40. (14" wheels, easier, though I don't think Costco cares about 17's do they?)

I'll need to start a separate thread ranting about this later... NTB wanted $105, Firestone wanted $140... crooks!!!

Their machine might not be able to handle "low profile" tires if your winter tires are 225/45R17s like mine are. A few local places told me they would break their machine. Sam's Club flat out refused to touch them since I didn't buy the tires there and their machine would break. I'm guessing Costco might have a similiar policy. Unless I just got unlucky. I even offered to slip the guy some $ under the table.

In the end I went to a local bling-bling shop that deals with SUVs rollin on 26" dubs and uber-low profile tires (like 265/30R26s and crazy stuff) and they did all for corners for $59. They did a great job, included the valve stems, etc and didn't scratch my rims. I took my Prodrives w/ Hankooks there and they put them in perfectly too. Over all the shop seemed a little shady but they did great work for me and I've recommended them to a few people.

So if you have a shop that focuses on blinged out SUVs stop there and see how much they want.

And remember kiddies.......summer only tires like the stock STi tires don't mean no snow. They also turn into tires as stiff and slick as those on a Big Wheel when it gets cold. Don't equate snow = winter tires. Think cold = winter tires. I'm probably gonna make a reminder sticky in the 2.0/2.5 forums about this again soon.

I don't have any winters yet, but in the last week, I almost ate curb twice on the RE070's. Rain sucks.

I'll leave them on a bit longer, I'll buy a set of RE960's next month and that'll fix the problem.

I'll swap when it starts snowing, but then again it takes me less than 5 minutes to do so.

I wont be swapping my dads STI to snows until after the first weekend of December, I need the RE070's for the last auto-x.

Yup ASX for me, I mainly drive it on the weekends for crusing anyway so I'm not to worried about handling. I have my performance tires and rims for that anyway. Unless my daily finally craps out on me.... But ASXs are 80 on tire rack! But 30 dollar shipping... might try the Toyo's when these run out.

^ Funny, I use those Pirellis in the summer months.

I use Nokian Hakkapeliitta RSi tires, I'll probably put them on this week at some point after work. Typically I used to put on winters the second week of October, and take them off the second week of April. That was back in NH and also when I used strictly summer tires.

I bought the Pirellis last year, they allow me a couple extra weeks on each end since they're A/S. Plus the snow doesn't fly as early, here. Though yes, I mostly gauge by temperature, again since they have some A/S capability I'm in good shape.

They odd thing is that the Proxes 4 are a relatively new tire so not that many people have used them especially not in comparison to PZero Neros M+S. Another problem is that most people who reccomend the PZero Neros haven't driven with the proxes 4 sooo yeaah...

Originally I am from up near Lake Erie in PA... I would drive dedicated snows from nov. to mar. if I were still there. We get snow occassionally here - I drive the Exploder with the wife instead of risking the STi with the yahoo from around here. I trust my driving - I don't the other idiots.
