Default Falken 452: Why so little feedback?

Just curious, and thinking ahead. I had the 451, loved them, and now have the RS2, and like them. I'd pick the 452 as my next tire based solely on my experience with the 451, but there's zero feedback on them.

Why? The 451 was outstanding from nearly every standpoint, and it was a hit. I'd think more people would be trying the 452.

What's the deal?

I think folks are little afraid to try something new, especially when the Hankook RS2s were thought of so highly when the 451s were still available.

I had the 451s before and now I'm going with the RS2s now. We'll see how that goes.

I like the 451 better than the RS2. It's a better all around tire, IMO.

The reason why we don't hear a lot? They are still pretty new.

I am decided on them for my next set of tires for DD.

I did talk with a tech on edgeracing.com that knew his tires well (I needed to test him by talking about other tires first ), and his opinion was that the FK452 were better in every way than the FK451 and even longer wearing.

EDIT: oops...right, FK452>FK451

The 452 is better than the 451, you mean?

I imagine it is: I can't believe that after the success of the 451 they'd drop the ball on its replacement.

If it's the same as the 451, I'd be happy. Better? The 451 had stiff sidewalls, quicker turn in than the RS2, better roadfeel, better wet traction (standing water), awesome dry traction, awesome controllability, and FAR better tire life. How can you best that?

Wow, you thought 451>RS2 in dry traction?

Bridestone re750's is whats on the car now. As for how good they are on the WRX I cannot say really.

I bought the car with them on already and they were pretty much bald.

I did however run the 750's on my Taurus SHO and I liked them. I have a feeling the Falkens will be better, and they cost less.

Well, if they're like the 451's, they will kick the 750's ass.

I havn't driven on the 451s but I don't know how you can compare them to the rs2s, especially based on this comparison on Edgeracing.com. They are in a different class all together.

Toyo Proxes T1R: Very similar to the FK452 in every respect. Choosing between these two comes down to sizing availability and brand preference in most cases.

Pirelli Pzero Rosso: Both similar in performance, we would suggest the FK452 in most cases due to newer technology and much better value.

Hankook Ventus K104: Also very similar to the FK452 in the performance category with the Hankook Ventus K104 being a better performance value in most sizes, but the FK452 edges the K104 in driving refinement.

yeah there a different class of tire.

I chose the 452 because it seems to be the best tire for handling/tirewear witout getting into the 200 or less treadwear tires.

Sure. But for street driving, I'd say the 451 was far more enjoyable. The RS2's simply have higher grip. tHey have nothing else on the 451, not turn-in, road-feel, wet grip, sidewall stiffness, tire wear, nothing. The RS2's are vague.

And I'll take the word of a Euro mag that tested the 451 against the Pilot Sport, SO3, and nearly every other tire at that level, and equalled or best them all, at a lower price point, over the word of edgeracing.

I heven't been impressed with their opinion.

I put the 452's on today and they look great.

problem is I was graced with an hour and a half of stop and go traffic on teh way home so I really didnt get to test the tire out much.

im going to go play on some backroads afterwork tomorow and see how they are.

it rained today and it might tomorow so I will either be testing its wet/dry traction depending on the weather.

if they're anything like the FK451's it will take at least 500 miles before they start really feeling good...

alright I got to take a nice drive in the 452's last night.

first impreshion is great. Pretty quiet. Not a bad ride either. Very nice stiff turnin. I mounted them myself and you can tell the sidewalls are stiff they were a bit of a pita to mount.

insane difference from the stock size potenza re750's that were on it.

but like you guys said they need a bit of time to really shine.

still messing with psi's. Currently running 43psi front/41psi back.

let me get a couple thousand on these guys and I will give a more in deapth review. (well as good as I can during the winter months that is)
