Question 15K mile service...

I'm about due for my 15K mile service for my MY01 RS. Are there any particular issues I should be aware about if/when I take it to the dealer to get the service? Has anyone here done their checkup in a non-dealer service place?
I don't have my manual with me right now, so I don't know what the service consist of, but any suggestions on what I should tell them to check?
Infos and suggestions would be great!

thanks.

First and foremost, be aware that they will rape you on the price of getting a 15k mile checkup.....

Check your owner's manuel. Most or all of the items you can do yourself. If unsure of your capabilities, try to do most of them. Do not take it to the dealer unless you're willing to pay! My sister uses Goodyear Or Express Tire. 15K service about $160.00

Replace Engine oil
Replace Engine oil filter
Inspect Disc brake pads and discs, front and rear axle boots and axle shaft joint portions
Perform Inspect brake lines and check operation of parking and service brake system
Inspect Clutch operation
Inspect Steering and suspension
===
I'm actually due for this in my WRX as well. I just replaced the oil myself and everything else appears to be peachy. Nothing is replaced, only inspected. I'm guessing that since it's still under the manufacturer warranty that they're not going to inspect it TOO hard because it just costs them money.

I'm going to skip mine. Wake me for the 30k...

Question

(bump starts here...)
I'm currently ~15000 miles on my WRX ... just changed the oil/filter and was looking at my fluid levels (since I don't plan on taking it to the dealer). My power steering fluid was at the Min Warm (after driving) and the coolant level was also at Low. I filled them to their appropriate levels ... but I was wondering - has anybody else noticed low levels for these two items? I had my PS pump replaced a while ago, so who knows if it's still having trouble. And I am in Florida, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with using extra coolant (?).

Any help/insight would be much appreciated!

Default Same problem

Bliu,

I have the same problems with my RS. Don't worry about it. Just keep your eye on it so that you don't go too low on fluid levels. I am still debating if I should go in for my 15k. I do all my own work, but clutch, axels, etc are a little much for me. I got a buddy who is better with his car than I and he still recommends going in to have it looked at. As long as you do most of your own work, he says that the service isn't too expensive.

Hopefully, this helps.
