Default how to install O2 sensor, fuel filter and air control valve

I have been getting poor mileage and have decided to try to remedy the problem with some do it myself maintenance. I have a fuel filter, air filter, oygen sensor and an air control valve. I can figure out the air filter installaton, but am not sure about the others. I have not looked under the hood to try and locate the other 3 elements, but I suspect I will have a little trouble finding them, also some of the items I urchased are threaded which makes me think about torque strengths.
Can anyone guide me to an old post that includes intallation instructions or can some one tell me how to do these services? My car is a 97 OBS 5 speed by the way
Thanks, Suladed

Generally, the O2 senser and Idle Air Control valve will not affect your mileage without giving a CEL. The IAC controls the volume of air when off-throttle and therefore idle speed. If the O2 senser is dirty or unresponsive the ECU will notice.

Do the basic maintenance first, you'll probably notice an improvement.

Changing fluids and filters and plugs. F/F, A/F, O/F, Oil, Spark Plugs. Try running a couple of tanks of Chevron gas also (if you don't already), the Techroline will help to clean your injectors and valves. After service, reset the ECU.

If you don't have Chevron gas in your area, their injector cleaner with Techron should also do the trick. That stuff does wonders for dirty injectors!
