Question HKS springs and rubbing?

i dunno what rubbing sounds like, so i'm not sure if that is what is happening. i have HKS springs on the stock struts and the lowered the car quite a bit. now everytime i hit a bump, the left rear makes this loud knocking noise. rubbing? something else? should i get some stiffer struts? any other ideas? thanks.

Killer,

It sounds like your spring might not be seated fully. The sping is popping off its perch. A rubbing sound sounds like something rubbing or squeaking. Look at your tire because if it were rubbing it would show signs of rubbing. BTW, how do they ride, too firm ?

EDIT: Also check your all stuts to make sure it is secured and seated fully.

i just removed the back seat and the center nut seems to loose. i can rotate it by hand and i don't have the right tools the non-knocking side is threaded 10 threads visable and the knocking side has only 5. the ride is pretty good since the struts are pretty soft so they keep the stock ride just a whole lot lower. they lower it a little too much though (like a 1 finger gap).

the sound can be your strut tops banging against the mounting area....

i'm not sure what you meant by the hex wrench??

if your talking about a wrench to tighten up the top strut mounts, you should use a 12mm ratcheting socket wrench for the inside 2 bolts.... then you need a 12 mm standard monkey wrench for the outside bolts.. (the seatbelt thing gets in the way)... for an easier tool, you can look for a ratcheting monkey wrench.... try sears...

also, when lowered to only 1 finger gap between tire and wheelwell, be careful going over bumps at speeds... my car is dropped about the same... and the car oscillates (bounces) when i go over bumps...

All you need to do is put a 14mm on a rachet, and tighten it. The weight of the car should keep it from spinning.

The answer to your problem is the good old impact wrench...

The only problem is that you will have to find the right combination of extensions and knuckles to get in there. And it's going to bounce all over cus impact wrenches aren't made to work with extensions or knuckles.

But it works, just rata-tat-tat for a while and your noise should go away.
