There is a whole culture built on that tachometer do not disrespect its majesty.

Edit: for strong use of sarcasm.

Well the wrx does have a tachometer and definatly does not rev to 10k rpm. I see it just the same as people with civic's placing them on. Sorry but I stick to my views of it as just ...blah...I will say at this current moment.

I was with you just don't want to bad mouth folks I dont know. Maybe his tach is broken, or his dimmer switch snapped off. Or he just likes the looks of it. Each his own.

Just FYI... you can always just add a shift light (discreetly) or get a G-tech that has a shift light on it (among other useful features), that plugs into your lighter and can be squireled away when not in use.

From the picture you posted that thing looks like it should have come with a periscope so you can see over the top of it.

That's fair. I would suggest you go to the manufacturers website or google directions for "aftermarket tachometer instalation". Before I ever do an instalation I do a search on google... I always find info.

I was serious about my first two options, I think a shift light or G-Tech would be a good way to go, lower cost and keep a clean look (just my $.02s)

And I think this is the emotions you are looking for

Good Luck

Here is the link.

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Scroll to the bottom and you can print the manufacturers instructions.

You may also type "aftermarket tachometer installation" into NASIOC and see what you come up with.

as long as he likes it, then that's what matters.

i'm sure not too many people dig my huge ass "clearwire" graphics on my car. do i care? no... because since i've added them to the LGT, it's brought me a good 20+ sales or more, not to mention just advertisement for myself. now, i'm just the "chick that drives the Clearwire subie."

Okay now that I am up and re-energized I shall explain my position. You seem to be taking it thw wrong way so let me explain. The reason for my comment about it Ponamy is because those kind of products that you purchase at like Shucks for example are complete Rice. It's just completly stupid and served no purpose, especially for our cars. I only would see it having a purpose to go on a High Revving car that goes beyond what a stock tachometer would read. People here are not trying to hate on products you purchase, especially me. The Subaru community is a clean one. Compared to many other distinctive car forums we don't have some race section or WRX vs. ALL junk. Subarus in general have a different reputation that needs to last the best it can.

People look out for one another making sure something is completly stupid looking. I am sorry bro, but that thing is completly garbage. Why waste money for such a product with no use to you? Why not buy gauges from someone like ProSport? Buy some for EGT, Voltage, Temp, Pressure? Something that would serve use, looks nice, while showing you what is going on with your Wrx in order for you to possibly catch a problem in the future. Honestly there are many other tachemeters on the market that aren't so BAM LOOK AT ME!!!! That are in fact clean, smooth and nice. I'm sorry to have offended you however, it's just trying to look out for you. It just looks ricey my friend. If you don't feel I am correct than that is fine, it is in fact your car. I just couldn't see it on a nice wrx and just see this huge clock with a flashlight attached on my dash. Sorry to have placed an opinion you did not like in your thread. However, as said before, I was just trying to look out for another subie driver and possibly recommend using the money for another useful product. So sorry for upsetting you. Good day.

-Brian

there are four coil wires in the "D" connector on the ecu, one trigger wire going to each coil in negative form. that'd be the easiest place to tap in. the cluster went digital so it only has one set of data wires going to it for everything. there's no "tach" reference anywhere in the car for that matter, so you'd have to tap off coils. inside the car will be the easiest though. let me know if you want the wire colors.

Search ebay for a "raptor" shift light... if thats what you want it for..
It's a small shift light that you can put anywhere without having the huge tach....
