more mods coming soon!!

Thumbs up 98ers....FINALLY an Intake!

MY98RS owners,
I installed my intake from Accurit Performances this morning. It took a few extra parts (silicone hose and some T adapters) and it also required cutting a 2" piece of the j-tube off ( I have informed Phil @ Accurit about this so hopefully if you order the intake for a 98 he will take care of that for you) install was very easy after the parts were all there it just required plugging in the hoses, attaching the MAF to the j-tube and then the filter to the MAF sensor and lastly the filter.
Now the important part...the TEST DRIVE!
Definately performance gains throughout the ENTIRE power band. There isnt any noticable low end loss and if anything you gain low end power. The throttle response is more noticable and after about 4K RPMs it screams towards the red-line. '
Hopefully this will help you guys. The intake was only $140 and I spent about $10 on parts so for a grand total thats a whopping $150 which is a phenominal deal IMHO.
Customer service was #1 by the way. Phil was a great guy to deal with. I know us 98ers have had our troubles with intakes, but I guess out problems have been solved by Accurit!

Is it the same one Larry Ganz made for the 98? I just bought that one which has had long term tests and proved to work ok with the MAF.

Question CAI?

It's like the Rallispec, Ganz, and JCS style intake though right? If it's CAI then the deal is unbeatable.

By the way, the J-tube is aluminum?

Like elcid430 said, a pic is very preferrable Thanks in advance!

Btw, congrat on your intake.

really, you tell us about it, then don't tell us where we can get one..

i've always wondered, what is the diff between 98s, 97s and is there a big diff for the 00s..
cuz the procarparts site lists an intake for 97 and 00 but not 98..

i need to get an intake soon.. dying for more power, and i don't want to spend 200+ on a CAI

considering an AEM or the procar..

but i really would like to know the difference if anybody can help me..

synapse79: Actually a CAI isn't available for MY98 (yet), so if you want one DIY is the only way for now. As for the cone type, there are many available but most companies went out of businesses (Rallispec and JCS). As for gain, most are pretty much the same for MY98 (MY99 is a bit different). Ganz is another one you may want to check out (Larry sells it). I think it may be a bit cheaper for price.

MY98 and MY97 can be different b/c 98 is the first year w/2.5 engine in an Impreza. MAF, however, is identical except for MY99. I have JCS in mine now, and not bad except for one thing: material.

If you have question, give me a PM and I will do my best to help

Good Luck in searching for whatever you look for...
