98 BMW 540i LS2/T56

Default 1989 Mazda RX-7 with LS1/T56 swap lots of goodies fully sorted lots of pictures

Time to move on to a new project. I found a deal I couldn't pass up, so it is time for this car to go.

Cliff's notes - approximately 450 hp/450 ft lbs. curb weight 3,000 lbs

89 Convertible that runs and drives very well and is fully sorted. There were 68k miles on the car before the conversion; 5k miles since the conversion. Clean title, licensed and registered. I’ve taken in on several long trips and drive it almost everyday.

BODY

New top in good shape (small white spot was there when I got it)

Paint in good shape for age although not perfect, some dings, the right rear behind the rear wheel has a large spot missing paint, some scratches and the front plastic is fading fast. From 20 feet awaythe car looks great. No rust. The hood has some dents from my relieveing the bracing to make more room for the intake.

Power locks and windows

Kenwood CD/MP3 head unit with removable face

8” sub in a sealed box with a 320 watt RMS amp

Amps and sub hidden under the spare tire cover and not visible

Kenwood 6.5” door speakers

Optima small yellow top battery in trunk

Autometer speedometer, tach, oil pressure, water temp and fuel gauges (the speedo, tach and OBD gauge are in the dash, the oil pressure, temp and fuel level are in an aluminum bezel below the radio)

Interceptor OBDII gauge in the instrument panel; has an adjustable integrated shift light and lots of other goodies

Custom instrument panel with 1/8” turn signal and high beam lights

AC works and is controlled by the LS1 PCM.

Wipers and light work

Aluminum spare tire

New heater core

JDM black cloth seats

New black carpet

New exterior door/window trim on both sides

Dynamat-like sound deadener installed in the entire interior

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Motor is a 98 LS1 with 44k miles before the swap

AFR 205 Cylinder Heads

Thunder Racing 224/224 114 LSA cam

New LS2 Oil Pump

Katech rod bolts

Jesse Bubb PCM tune

LS2 timing chain set

LS2 Flywheel

LS7 Clutch and pressure plate; rated for 500 hp

Ported LS6 exhaust manifolds

Custom mandrel bent stainless dual 2.5” exhaust with an x-pipe and dual cats, two polished Magnaflow stainless steel mufflers and two 3” polished stainless tips in the stock location (this setup cost a small fortune)

New AC Delco oxygen sensors

SUSPENSION

MB Motorsports wheels and tires 18x8 front and 18x9 rear

Falken 451’s front 25/40-18 front and 265/35-18 rear

Complete Turbo II limited slip rear end swap

Manual steering rack

Pinion Snubber

Montgomery Machine rear subframe and differential bushings

Rear steer eliminator bushings

New Energy Suspension bushings all around (front and rear control arms)

New front strut tops

Hurst Shift knob

Hinson motor and tranny mount

JTR radiator with nice aluminum mount

DC Controls 3800 cfm fan with integrated controller

New Wilwood clutch master cylinder with bracket to mount it upright

New Stock brake master cylinder

New pads and rotors at all corners

New stainless steel Speed Bleeders all around

Mazdatrix adjustable Rear camber adjuster

I tried to be as complete as possible, but I have probably left some things out.

Car is located in Naperville, IL. If you are interested please send me a PM or an e-mail.

Thanks for the nice comments. I already have the next project which is why the price is pretty low and I am not looking for any trades.

Damn, If I bought this, I would just open the hood and stare at it rather then drive it.

Very very nice!

I can't vouch for this particular car but I have 3 friends who have LS1 FCs and they are freakin monsters! I'm thinking about doing a 240 or an FC myself in a year or two. Anyone who buys this will not be disappointed with either handling or straight line speed.

Good luck with it!
