Question question about clutch adjustment, please help

ok, so i bought the subaru loyale wagon from 1992. The problem is that the clutch is so short that its very difficult to drive ! i know its a mechanical clutch and that to adjust it the "fork" is located on one side of the engine bay? can anyone please give me some more details about how to do this, pictures would be great. i used the search feature, and other various sites to try and figure it out.

thanks in advance -MIKE

You can try to adjust it under the dash. I cant remember when I installed my racing pedals.
The pedal will probably have a couple nuts to lock it.
Im not sure about your model though.
You sure the clutch isnt going?

not 100% sure, but the guy i bought it from is a buddy of mine and when i drove it its seems fine. The thing is that the release point is really early! and idk how to raise it at least like an inch! - thanks again

Check the spring underneath the dash, you might be able to get a shorter spring thus making it recoil higher.
Just a thought.
Someone will probably have a better answer.

be careful with that spring, it is under a lot of tension, it can put a hole in your finger or take out an eye.

You're asking about a cable clutch on an older car, most people seeing this are only familiar with the newer hydraulic clutches and will base their responses on that.
For more accurate info you might try posting in the "Old School" forum where there are people familiar with your car.

Well I suggest you try. Or at least post in the Transmission forum where some of the more technically knowledgeable folks hang out.

There are two nuts on the end of the cable (just like your parking brake)

One is 10mm and the other is 11mm (IIRC)

Loosen one, tighten the other down a bit, then tighten the other to hold it in place. Drive it and adjust as needed. Don't overtighten it as that can cause the clutch to stick and wear prematurely.
