Default A REQUEST TO SUBARU: Let us '07 our '06 Tribeca sound system.

I have a request for Subaru, give us early adopter '06 owners the ability to trade-in our '06 stereo for the '07 version that has the MP3 port and XM compatibility, perhaps for a small fee ($100?)

It was REALLY short-minded of Subaru to not include the MP3 port of the '06's when they knew before the '06's came out that this would be an issue. For the error, Subaru needs to allow customers to upgrade, perhaps at a small cost, so we don't feel burned.

Okay everyone, please speak up and MAYBE Subaru will listen!

I'm not sure if they will switch radios for $100, but an upgrade kit for wiring and programming the Aux in for our radios is doable.

I'm all for it!

Ya' gotta realize that the '06 models came out in '05 and were probably designed in '02 and '03, long before ipods became so commonplace. I'd hardly call this Short-sighted. I'm not so much defending Subaru, as I am the marketing and engineering process.

Granted, I've got an '07 so no complaints here- but I waited for this (and other changes) that the '07's included. Whereas- you got to enjoy your 'beca for a full year of driving while I was still waiting for the car of my dreams. Heck- that's worth something.

Burn some mp3 cd's and enjoy what you've got. the mp3 function on the 'beca works great. You can quickly flip through folders (albums) and pick songs, that come up on the display. Seems like a much easier solution than replacing the whole radio. Or- get an FM interface.

You can't fit 15000 songs on one disc, and FM transmitter sound like Shyt!!

Have you ever tried this?

Scrolling through an MP3 CD is a nightmare. It only shows filenames, not ID3 tags, you can't search, it only shows the first 16 characters, scrolling is very very slow etc...

The radio is a disgrace. With the competition coming out with THX enabled DVD audio decks, Bluetooth integrated and other features Subaru really screwed us with this radio.

As for the year it was developed, I've seen '05's with better radios than this.

And lets not forget that most of us are still waiting for updates to our crappy 2003 navigation maps we all paid $2500 for.

You can pick up a $250 Garmin at Costco with better and more up to date maps, not to mention a better interface.

Having seen all the components of the audio system together its clear to me that the radio was pretty much an afterthought put together by people with little knowledge of what customers want.

I also think subaru should do something with the stereo with some kind of a update for 06 owners, and not at there crazy pricing for after market items.
