Default 2007 Nissan Sentra SE-R to Debut at L.A. Auto Show

2007 Nissan Sentra SE-R to Debut at L.A. Auto Show

Press Release:
Quote:
NASHVILLE (Nov. 3. 2006) Ė Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) today announced that it will introduce two exciting new performance vehicles at the Los Angeles Auto Show, November 29th, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

All-new for 2007, the Nissan Sentra will once again have SE-R high performance models; both SE-R and SE-R Spec V. As a pioneer model in the field of sport compact cars, the 2007 Nissan Sentra SE-R offers more power, performance and technology to this highly acclaimed model. The SE-R Spec V model will be powered by a specifically designed high-output version of Nissanís 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine. Additional information on the SE-R with be announced at the LA Auto Show on November 29th.

Nissan will also showcase another uniquely styled, exhilarating performance-oriented vehicle, which marks Nissanís entry into a previously untapped customer segment. Details on the second world debut vehicle are being withheld until Nissanís press conference on November 29 at 10:00AM PST.

In addition, Nissan will participate in the 2006 Hybrids and Green Cars/LA event that takes place during the media days portion of the Los Angeles Auto Show on Wednesday, November 29 and Thursday, November 30. This event will allow attendees an opportunity to drive many advanced technology vehicles from various manufacturers.

Nissan will showcase three products at this ride and drive, including the 2007 Altima Hybrid, the X-Trail Fuel Cell Vehicle and the 2007 Armada Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV).

The new Sentra seems to be quite the disappointment - placed 6th out of 6 in the newest C&D comparo - even placed behind the aging Corolla! Hopefully this SE-R variant will spice things up a bit, but who knows?

When I think of SE-R, I think of the 1991-1994 flyweight:

A sad evolution in my opinion

^Totally agreed. I'd take an older SE-R anyday. sr20 ftw!

I used to have an 03 spec V with every bolt on + cams... still only made around 185whp on a good day.

The new sentras are a total disappointment.. I have no clue what possessed them to make it look like the Altima. U-GLY. Doesn't even have the brembo option as it appears? Man they're really going in the wrong direction with the sentra. I sense the death of that car in the very near years to come.

The SE-R's a great car but they sure as hell ruined it. They need to do a complete redesign for 2008 and start to offer a 2-door again.

I absolutely adore the 91-94 SE-R

Currently rockin a 93 SE-R

It's a pretty fun little car, deffinetly due to it's light weight.

The new sentra looks like ass.

doesn't look bad to me... I am sure many will change their minds when it comes out and see them on the road with the usual mods....

You gotta admit though...it looks as bland as a non-optioned wrx...

A set of lowering springs or coilovers, 18 inch wheels and you're off to the races...

Exactly. Oh how we love to make up our minds based on spy photos. Sadly, a Nissan (save the Z) hasn't pumped my nads for many years.

If the center-of-gravity gets any higher on these new cars, the term 'car' itself will become extinct.

nissan is going backstep i think since most cars on the road is getting heavier if they make the car 2 light it wont be safe enuf when another car with bigger curb weight smash into it

OH! - so the car being heavier is not a lack of engineering know-how or just plain laziness.... it is now considered a FEATURE?!?!

Or does that mean when a car gets crappy gas mileage, it is also a feature? It is simply the car maker making sure you go out and stretch your legs more often when you go and fill up!

It's the huge bodywork on the car that makes them look small.

Maybe Nissan needs to do the retro-thing! It's funny how you see a lot of people who think the new Mustang, Challenger and Camaro concepts are silly, yet as they get older they're going to want to see the same thing from Japan. How great would it be if they made the 93 Sentra SE-R again, but put something in it that offered SRT4 type performance. Somewhere I saw a retro Datsun B-210 concept that was pretty impressive.

Then you are so lucky since I predict the new GT-R will also be plenty porky. It'll totally be safe enuf against dose SUVs yo.

In short, the new sentra is indeed as crappy as it looks.
