Hey Matt,
Sorry but I'm the one that handles most of the emails and forums stuff here, I was on vacation since thursday. But from your profile it seems like you have a Sti. Sorry to say there is nothing out for the Sti AVCS models for the plasma boosters.. But do offer non AVCS plasma direct for most subaru's.

Basically conical springs were used on formula 1 cars prior to going to pneumatic springs. They are a progressive spring with favorable harmonics. The coil diameter at the top is smaller so that weight of the coils are much lighter and incorporate a much smaller and lighter retainer. When adding up your valve train moving mass you take 100% of your spring, retainers, keepers, however you only take a percentage of spring weight. When calculating a dual or single spring you typically would use 1/3rd of the total spring weight where as a conical spring you would only utilize about 1/4th this is because the majority of moving mass is the small coils at the top where as the larger coils barely move. When all is said and done you end up about of the dynamic weight. You eliminate the friction between the two coils in a dual spring application, and you have much more favorable harmonics similar to a progressive spring rather then a single linear spring. We will be providing much more detailed information in our upcoming website.

It would really, really kick ass if you could send some of your new whizz bang coils to an independant guy for testing. I'm 10,000% sure if you hooked up with Jorge at P&L in Chicago you would get killer testing and better sales. Just an idea as he's:

a. Respected
b. Terribly interested in spark/coil issues as of late

We're always here to help the community if requested. Also, being the start of the R&D season for us, now would be the time to approach me on something like this.

Because before the end of the winter season, I plan on coming up with something. After having talked to MSD at SEMA I have some pretty good products they're going to have me try out (Like a converter that will let me use something like a DIS-4 and coils of my choice...).

I'll be setting up my wagon as a test bed for several weeks, so again.. now's the time.

I offered, never heard anything. If you want, check out a thread I have in the EM/T forum on the HKS Twin power. Do a search on my screen name and ignition.
